Kegonsa Family Newsletter
2024 - 2025
April 4, 2025
Kegonsa Families,
It’s been a great first week back from Spring Break! Students returned ready to learn, and we’ve had a strong start to the final stretch of the school year.
This week, we took a short pause from Peer Mentoring and Gilly Groups, but both will be back in action starting next week.
We’re excited to share that our 5th graders had a fantastic field trip earlier this week to the State Capitol and the Veterans Museum—a great opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences.
Next week brings even more excitement:
🎭 KG & 1st Grade will be off to see Elephant and Piggie at Madison Youth Arts
🌍 3rd Grade is headed to the Sons of Norway
📝 4th Grade will continue Forward State Testing
And don’t forget—our annual Working for Kids Spring Fling Dance is coming up next Friday, April 11th! Here’s what to look forward to:
- 🎶 Dance with DJ Strandlie
- 🍕 Cash-only pizza and bake sale
- 🌱 Garden Club activities
- 🎬 A family movie and popcorn
Next week is expected to start off chilly, but we’re looking forward to warmer temps by Friday.
Have a wonderful weekend! 💙 Erin

Calling All Creative Supplies!
Our 3rd Grade classrooms have been invited to participate in the 2025 Syttende Mai Plate Design Contest, and we need your help! If you have any of the following items at home that you're not using, we'd love to put them to good use. Please note that these materials won't be returned, as they'll be covered in glue, tape, and creativity!
🎨 Items Needed:
🔹 Red, white, or blue ribbon
🔹 Norwegian-themed wrapping paper
🔹 Postcards, pictures, or calendars featuring Norway or rosemaling
🔹 Norwegian magazines or newspapers
🔹 Norwegian fabric or material
🔹 Small trinkets like trolls, Viking ships, or anything uniquely Norwegian
🔹 Anything else that could inspire a fantastic Syttende Mai paper plate design!
Donations can be sent to school with your child. Thank you for helping our students bring Norwegian heritage to life! 💙❤️🤍
Dear Kegonsa Families,
At Kegonsa LMC, we celebrated Women’s History Month in March, recognizing the impactful contributions of American women throughout history!
For April, we are highlighting Autism Awareness Month and Arab-American Heritage Month to foster understanding, inclusivity, and appreciation for diverse experiences. By recognizing Autism Awareness Month, we aim to promote acceptance and support for individuals on the autism spectrum. Celebrating Arab-American Heritage Month allows us to honor the rich cultural contributions and achievements of Arab Americans throughout history.
In the past few weeks, we’ve been exploring our library resources that support our students in researching various topics. These resources offer engaging videos and articles to enhance learning. You can encourage your child to use them at home too when needed, including BookFlix, ScienceFlix, PebbleGo Next, TrueFlix, and World Book Kids.
Thank you for your ongoing support and engagement!
Coming soon! Bridging Bridger Smiles spring cleaning!
Shining Gilly Award Winners!
What is the Shining Gilly Award?
The Shining Gilly Award recognizes students who go above and beyond to show exceptional care for others or our school. These students exemplify the qualities we strive to nurture in all of our little citizens—kindness, responsibility, and a positive impact on their community. Whether it's an individual or a group of students, those who receive this award truly reflect the values we hold dear at our school.
Congratulations to Carly (3rd) and Eleanor (KG) 🥳
