Extra Pay is forPGCEA NOT ASASP!February 4th, 2025

Teachers Are Paid For Doing Extra, But ASASP Will Not! Teachers Are Paid For Doing Extra, But ASASP Will Not!

After 363 Days of Negotiations, It Is What It Is!

The House Administration has made it very clear in negotiations that they don't want to pay ASASP, Unit II or Unit III employees for any extra work that you do.

All they want to talk about is a COLA, even though funds exists due to over a 1000 Vacancies.

They don't care if you stay late for buses after school every day.

They don't care if you have to stay in the office late because you are doing your job and the work of a vacant position.

They don't care if you work the whole weekend, every week just to keep up.

They don't care if you have to cover games, after school activities, and weekend events.

They don't care if you are a Human Resource Partner, a Community School Coordinator, a Health Service Supervisor, a Food Service Manager, a Budget Analyst, a Payroll Supervisor or in work Risk Management, if you are Unit II or Unit III they say, you already make enough and do not deserve any extra compensation.

The House Administration has made it very clear that they don't care if you're a Senior Accountant, a Project Manager, Grade 24 or Grade 32, if you are short or tall, black or white, speak one language or two, if you are Unit II or Unit III, they figure, you already make enough and don't deserve any compensation for ANY WORK you do or ANY EXTRA TIME you spend doing it.

I'm trying to tell you! Your presence is needed and your voice is required to move these folks. Put your boots on, grab a friend and come on out vote on the OUR NEXT STEPS @ our general meeting on February 19th @ 5:15pm!

Members Being Paid on Wrong Grade and Class For Years and Can't Get Paid... Members Being Paid on Wrong Grade and Class For Years and Can't Get Paid...

I'm Just Sayin'.........

That' s right, PGCPS has basically let us know that they have underpaid staff for years, but refuse to pay our members for the service they have provided. I know, it's hard to believe, but people have been intentionally or unintentionally placed in the wrong grade and/or class for years.

We have been asking nicely for a long to time for our folks to receive the retroactive pay they've worked for all these years. Every time we bring it up, we get a smirk that says "Whatever." Some Executives have been bold enough to tell us, "sue us."

It is amazing that anyone would step in the necks of their employees with such reckless, uncaring and demeaning behavior in one meeting, and walk right into the next meeting talking about the mental wellness of their staff like they actually care. All of this going on and people wondering PGCPS can't retain or hire enough staff each year.

I love PGCPS, don't get me wrong, but I don't care at all for the degradation, nepotism, cronyism and 18th century bullying tactics used to keep folks from speaking up. If you scared, say you scared, but if we come together, we can strike a mighty blow.

PGCPS has acknowledged their wrong doing, error or oversight, but have yet to correct it.

Remember, every issue is not necessarily your issue and may not impact you at the time, if ever, but as a union we have to stand together support our colleagues in unit 2 or unit 3, when they have issues.

Celebrate Black History Month and DEI

Black history is American History and we're going celebrate it and along with every other culture that is woven into the fabric of this nation. Now is not the time to be scared to stand up for yourself and what you know is right!
