Welcome to March Lieck Families!
We are almost there Parents! Just one more week to go before SPRING BREAK and I know we are all excited about this much-deserved time off. We have something special in store for you! Thank you to everyone who made this fundraiser a successful one. Every dollar raised will go back to our school and students! (Hallway Water Refill Stations, Grade Level Projects, academic programs, playground benches, student incentives and so much more!) Absolute last day to donate is March 6, 2026. THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT!! MyBooster.com
This Week is Read Across America Week!
From March 2nd to March 6th, our school will be celebrating Read across America week. This annual event, celebrated on the birthday of the famous children's author Dr. Seuss, is a nationwide celebration of reading and literacy. During Read across America week, we will be hosting a variety of fun and educational activities to promote a love of reading and learning. We will be reading Dr. Seuss books to our classes and lead discussions about the importance of literacy. Students will have the opportunity to participate in reading activities and we will also have special dress up days to celebrate this special week in literacy. Check out the information shared from Ms. Crystal Trevino for the week's activities!
STREAM NIGHT & BOOK FAIR: One of the highlights of Read across America week will be STREAM Night on March 4th and our school-wide book fair happening March 2-6th. This will be a great opportunity for students to browse a wide selection of books and find something that sparks their interest. At Lieck we want to promote the love of reading and get books back into the hands of students!
STREAM NIGHT is this Wednesday, March 4th! This highly anticipated night is finally here! Thank you to Mrs. Perez, and the STREAM committee for putting this event together. Where else can you enjoy a night of Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art and Music!! We will have plenty of activities and attractions for our Lions to enjoy!
BOOK FAIR: Book fair is this week. Students can purchase before/ after school and the designated time with the class. The book fair night event is Wednesday, March 4th from 5:00pm-6:30pm. Just a friendly reminder that the Book Fair this time around will be "Cashless".
FIELD DAY: Just a reminder that Field Day is this Friday! Please be on the lookout on Class Dojo for updates and schedule from Coach Cabello.
Thank you for all of your support and have a blessed month ahead!
Sincerely,

Attendance
We ended our 24-25 school year with 94.55% attendance school wide and our 24-25 goal was 96%. This year, our goal is to increase student attendance from 94.55% to 96% or more overall.
Students earn classroom incentives for attendance as well as school wide incentives for reaching 96% attendance as a campus. Below are some of the incentives they earn.
Individual Classrooms
1st Round = Tech Time (20 minutes)
2nd Round = STEM Time (20 minutes)
3rd Round = Admin Surprise
4th Round = Makerspace in the Library (20 minutes)
5th Round = Popsicles
6th Round = Extra Recess (20 minutes)
School Wide Celebrations
Each day we reach 96% or higher, we will display a letter to spell out LIECK. Each time we spell out LIECK, all students will get to do the following:
1st time - School Wide Pajamas / Slippers for Students & Staff (appropriate wear)
2nd time - Favorite Team Attire Day
3rd Time - Comfy Day (bring a stuffy / blanket and wear sweats or comfy pants)
4th Time - Extra Recess (20 minutes, inside or outside, per teacher decision)

SB 12 Parent Consent Form
Dear Parent:
The 89th Texas Legislative Session passed Senate Bill 12, which requires all Texas public schools to obtain annual parental consent for routine physical and mental health services.
On September 10th, the district sent out an email to the parent listed as "guardian one" in eSchool. That parent received an email for each child that attends a northside school. Each email will contain a unique link for that specific student. To comply with this new law, we need you to indicate your consent preference in the unique link for your child. If you have other children enrolled in the district, you will receive a separate email for each of them. The subject line of the email is titled New parental consent requirements.
This consent form describes the routine physical and mental health services provided at the school. In the future, this consent process will be part of our annual data verification.
Thank you for your help as we implement this new requirement.
Please complete the consent form as soon as possible so that we have the most current information on file.
I'm also including a link to the district website for more information nisd.net/district/whole-child/parental-consent-forms

Udpate Your Child's Immunizations
Texas law requires all public school children to have current immunizations to attend class. Northside ISD encourages parents to have their children immunized before the first day of school.
For more information please visit https://www.nisd.net/schools/health/vaccinations
A Word from the Nurse
The school nurse does not diagnose illnesses but takes notes of the symptoms and notifies the parent/guardian of the observations. If a child becomes ill or injured at school, the student will be assessed and given first aid, and the parent/guardian will be notified if the severity of the injury or illness warrants such action.
Children should be kept at home when ill and are expected to be free of fever (temperature less than 100.0° F) and free of communicable diseases in order to attend school. In accordance with the Texas Administrative Code, students are required to be excluded from school until fever free for 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing medications. The Texas Department of State Health Services defines fever as a temperature of 100.0°F or greater. This is important for the health of the child and for the health of all children at the school.

Just enter the student’s street number and street name to search for school assignment, bus route information, and any future Board adopted boundary changes.
