Coming Soon: A New Space to Grow and Play!
We are thrilled to announce that construction has officially begun on a brand-new preschool playground located right in front of our Mindful Learning Center!
Currently, our youngest learners (ages 3–5) in the special education program make a long trek across our 5.7-acre campus just to reach play equipment designed for older children. This $150,000 Capitol Improvement Project will establish a playground designed specifically for their needs.
Play is more than just fun—it’s essential. This new structure and trike path will provide a safe, inclusive environment where our preschoolers can build motor skills, engage their imaginations, and practice mindful social skills like empathy and cooperation. We expect construction to take approximately four weeks.
Congratulations to Our Junior Ambassador!
We are thrilled to share some exciting news regarding one of our own! Fifth grader Amelia Oh has been selected by the Japan-America Society of Hawaii (JASH) to serve as a Junior Ambassador at the 38th Asian-Pacific Children’s Convention (APCC).
Amelia is one of only four students chosen from across the entire state to represent Hawaii this year in Fukuoka, Japan. This is an incredible honor and a testament to her hard work and character.
What’s Ahead for Amelia?
As part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience, Amelia will:
Join a Global Youth Camp: She will meet and interact with over 200 children from more than 40 different countries.
Experience a Japanese Homestay: Amelia will live with a local family in Fukuoka to fully immerse herself in the culture.
Build Global Connections: The program is designed to foster cross-cultural friendships and help students grow into "global citizens" with a strong sense of social responsibility.
Amelia will be attending monthly workshops with JASH leading up to the trip to prepare for her role as a cultural ambassador.
Please join us in congratulating Amelia on this prestigious selection! We are so proud to have her representing our school and the state of Hawaii on the world stage.
Celebrating Our Creative Stars: 2026 Shoots Summit Results
Aloha Mindful School Ohana:
We are incredibly proud to share the highlights from this past weekend’s 4th annual Shoots Summit, a premier statewide digital media conference held at Moanalua High School. This inspiring event, held in partnership with Hawaiʻi Creative Media, ʻŌlelo Community Television, and PBS Hawaiʻi’s Hiki NŌ, brought together 920 participants from public, charter, and private schools across the state.
The summit provided a platform for our students to engage in intensive video, graphic arts, and photography contests. They also attended breakout sessions led by industry professionals and heard from local talent like Sydney Agudong, the Kaua‘i-born actress starring in Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch. Her journey served as a powerful reminder of how creative skills nurtured right here in Hawaiʻi can lead to global opportunities.
Thank you to Waikiki staff members Amy Wada, Jason Marvel, Michael Ragasa, and Yasaman Ford for their time and energy with both Hiki NO and Shoots Summit!! Great job to all our students who participated!
