Our SAVE Club (Students Against Violence Everywhere) will meet this Tuesday after school from 3:00–4:00 PM!

SAVE Club is one of our after-school opportunities where students can make a difference by becoming leaders in promoting a safe, welcoming school environment. Students will help promote school safety, plan our upcoming Hawks Say Hello Week, and find ways to encourage kindness, connection, and positive relationships throughout our school.

We are excited to have our Hawks step up as leaders and help make NBMS a safer and more welcoming place for everyone. This club is sponsored by School Counselor Jenay Wilson and United Way Coordinator Patty Schmid.

Buncombe County Schools is excited to spotlight how we are supporting College and Career

Readiness for every student in grades 6-12 by partnering with NCCareers, a digital academic and

career planning platform designed to help your child discover future careers and take ownership of their academic goals.

Starting July 1, 2024, under current North Carolina law, all 8th graders are required to have a Career Development Plan. This plan is crucial for helping students align their academic choices with their career goals as they prepare for high school and beyond. Additionally, this plan will be reviewed in 10th grade as part of the promotion process to 11th grade, ensuring students stay on track toward their postgraduation goals.

At NBMS, we believe every day matters! Each month, we recognize the students who have earned perfect attendance by celebrating them with a special treat during lunch.

We are proud of these students for making school a priority and showing up each day. The first reward will be this week for students with perfect attendance in August.

Middle school can be a lot! Whether your child is feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious, dealing with challenges at school or at home, or simply wants someone to talk to, after-school counseling is available at no cost to NBMS students.

Our after-school counseling program provides students with a safe, supportive, and confidential space to talk, work through challenges, build coping skills, and focus on their overall well-being. Students do not need to be experiencing a major problem to participate—sometimes, having a trusted adult to talk with can make all the difference.

Interested in having your child participate? Complete the registration form below. Please note that submitting a registration form does not guarantee a spot in the program. Your child's school counselor will review the request and reach out to you in the near future with additional information.

The Buncombe County Health and Human Services Department is offering special Back-to-School evening vaccination clinics from 4:30 to 6:30pm on Sept. 9, 21, and 22. You can get more information by calling BCHHS or clicking on this link.
