NEWS FROM MRS MCCLUE
Hello families!
It has been a wonderful, sunny start to Term 4. Welcome back to all our families and students, and a warm welcome to our new families and students.
New students
We have had sisters Blanka (Y2) and Nadia (PP), along with siblings Caoimhe (Y2), and Cian (PP) start with us this term. We also had brothers Zayd (Y1), Chase (Y3) and Mason (Y5) join us late last term. They have all been wonderful additions to our school community, and I am sure that you will make them and their families feel very welcome.
Congratulations!
It is wonderful that we always have so many things to celebrate at OLGC.
Skyla (Y5) placed first in the 'Raise your Voice' finals on Monday. The competition was hosted by St John's Primary School this year, and judged by local MLA Stuart Aubrey and opposition member Damien Kelly. Well done to all finalists in Year 5 and 6 who competed to represent OLGC.
We also congratulate students Horrie (Y5), Toby (Y5), Ben (Y6) and Max (Y6) along with Mrs Randazzo. These students competed in the Scitech Challenge Day yesterday, and placed third overall. A massive achievement. Well done superstars!!
Staffing milestone
We congratulate Mrs Deena Northcott, our Library Technician who will attend a special CEWA breakfast on Monday morning to celebrate 30 years of service to Catholic Education.
Happy News!
We extend our congratulations to Mrs Amanda Cochrane (Y3 Teacher) who is pregnant with her second child, due in March 2025. We are very excited by this wonderful news, and I am sure you will join me in congratulating Amanda at this special time.
Uniform requirements
Please note, that from 2025 it will be compulsory for students in PP-Y6 to wear the school socks. These socks are available to order on the OLGC Permapleat order page.
Kindy 2024 families may like to consider placing their PP uniform orders soon, in preparation for their children entering Pre-Primary in 2025.
A reminder to all families that the uniform requirements can be located on the school website HERE and details on how to order under the Uniform Shop tab HERE.
2025 Enrolment at OLGC
We remind families that the school fee policy states:
"A full term’s notice of withdrawal must be given in writing to the Principal. Verbal notification is not considered due notice. Notice to withdraw a student at the start of next academic year must be given no later than the commencement of Term 4 the previous year. If due notice is not provided, one term of the current annual tuition must be paid. All tuition and levies are non refundable."
If you have plans to move your child from OLGC at the end of Term 4, please let us know as soon as possible. Families are always welcome to arrange to meet with me, via the Admin Office if they are considering moving their child/ren. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you, before a final decision is made.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

NEWS FROM MRS BARFOOT
FAITH FORMATION AT HOME
Parents often seek guidance on how to reinforce the faith teachings their children receive at school and integrate them into their home life. As educators, we believe that fostering faith is a collaborative effort between school and home, and we invite parents to take an active role in shaping their child's spiritual development.
At school, our Religious Education program guides students to explore the Gospels, understand the sacraments, and connect with Catholic traditions through lessons and interactive activities. However, the seeds planted in the classroom can flourish even more when nurtured at home. Simple practices, like reflecting on daily lessons, discussing Bible stories, or saying grace before meals, can help deepen a child’s understanding of their faith and make it a natural part of everyday life.
Catholic values come to life through acts of service and compassion. At school, students learn the importance of helping others through social justice initiatives and service projects. Parents can support these lessons at home by encouraging children to be kind, generous, and empathetic. Whether it’s volunteering as a family, donating to those in need, or simply teaching children to look out for others, these actions help children understand that faith is something we live out every day.
As parents, you play a vital role in your child’s spiritual growth. By modelling faith-based practices, encouraging prayer, and reinforcing Gospel values, you create a home where love, forgiveness, and service are central. This partnership between home and school helps your child build a strong foundation in their Catholic faith—one that will stay with them throughout their lives.
