Human Resources Newsletter

The WCSD HR newsletter strives to celebrate the valuable staff members of the WCSD, inform employees of important HR processes and upcoming dates, and provide useful links and resources to support all employees of the Walnut Creek School District.

As a reminder today is the last day to submit your application.

The WCSD will be participating in the Classified School Employee Summer Assistance Program (CSESAP) in the school year 2024-25 which is administered by the California Department of Education. The deadline to sign up for the California State Classified School Employee Summer Assistance Program for the 2024-25 school year is TODAY MARCH 1, 2024. The form must be submitted and received by HR no later than 4PM March 1st. This year we will only be accepting digital forms via the link above.

Please visit the Employee Resources page here for more information regarding the program and to determine if you qualify. Please note: 12 month employees are not eligible for this program.

March 1st: Any employee who wishes to participate in the ERIP must submit a letter of intent or fill out the separation form and send to the Human Resources Department no later than March 1st prior to his/her intended retirement.

January 1st - March 1st: Enrollment in the CSESAP for the 2024-25 school year (see above).

April 1st: Deadline to return the Intent to Return or Reasonable Assurance Survey.

Payroll is now accepting requests to participate in the summer fund.

CERTIFICATE EMPLOYEES : The SUMMER FUND is a pool of money allocated to your Summer Fund account. This fund is released at the end of the school year, covering the months when you don't receive your regular earnings. Participating is optional; however, if you choose not to, you'll only receive your regular 10 paychecks during the school year.

CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES: Please DO NOT mistake this program for the summer assistance program, which provides matching amounts from the government. The Summer Fund simply holds your money for release during the summer months (Check will be distributed in June 2025).

If you're already enrolled in the summer assistance program and wish to join the regular Summer Fund, you're welcome to do so. Just remember, two amounts will be withheld from each paycheck.

Furthermore, please note that the generated summer fund checks for 2024-2025 are deposited into everyone's account by June 2025

A few reminders about independent study. All IS applicaitons are done online for elementary school. This online form follows the same path as the paper form, just virtually. Parents can access this form on our district website under Parent/Guardian Resources>Independent Study. Here is a link directly to the form to take a look. See below for the path of the form and the teacher’s role at each phase. Contact your office manager or site principal for more information on this process.
