ELA- Mrs. Forderhase
Happy New Year! Students spent time this week setting 3rd quarter reading goals, getting back into the habits of school, and writing to think about themes in their historical fiction book club books to help prepare for essay writing. Students first personal reading book is due January 21. Next week, students will spend several days taking the NWEA assessments. Science- Mrs. Kenney
This week in science, we continued our Chemistry Unit. Students worked on a review game of Periodic Table Battleship. Then, students created a chemical reaction and tested the Law of Conservation of Mass in a lab. Finally, we ended the week with some chemistry review and a quiz. Next week, we will continue with our Chemistry Unit. If you would like to support our classroom projects, we would greatly appreciate donations of duct tape, hot glue sticks, and glue sticks. Social Studies- Mr. Ward
This week in social studies, we began our new Economics unit. In this unit students will learn some basics of personal finance (savings,income, credit, debit, budgets,taxes, stocks, insurance etc.). We began our unit with a Pre-Assessment. Students then watched “The secret life of money”, which discussed how money is made, maintained, and its effects historically and in the future on the American population. Students registered for a stock market game that we will be engaging in for the entire unit. In this game students will be able to purchase and sell real stocks.
The Springfield field trip form was given to students this week. The form needs to be signed and turned in with payment by March 23, 2020.
