APRIL EVENTS
Outreach Thursday
Every first Thursday of the month, the FACE team goes out to the community to distribute books and hear about their needs. It was great seeing the students at Westfield Ridge Apartments so excited for receiving a book during our April Outreach Event!
Board Meeting Recognitions
The FACE Department recognized two community partners during the April 19 Board of Trustees meeting. The Shiney Hiney Diaper Pantry organization recently distributed diapers, baby clothes, shoes, strollers, car seats, and playpens to students at Hall Success Academy. Representing Shiney Hiney at the April 19 Board meeting were Tiawona Osborne-Davis, Shanice Davis, Byron Davis, and Desiree Spencer.
FACE also recognized the Young Ladies of Elegance Organization, which provided prom dresses to hundreds of Aldine ISD High School students. Members of the Young Ladies of Elegance Organization who were recognized at the April 19 Board meeting were Aldine ISD Board Vice-President Dr. Kimberley Booker, Marilyn Palmer, Janae Norris, Crystal Speights, and Cayla Speights.

The FACE Team collaborated with Davis High School at the Day of Design Event celebrated on April 23rd. Book author Robert Harper shared a powerful message with the parents who attended this event to support their students.

Griggs Primary families were happy to receive books from the FACE team during the Spring Carnival they had on April 22.
Partners of Excellence Meeting
The Partners of Excellence met with the Superintendent, Dr. LaTonya Goffney on April 26 to form a collaborative partnership. As partners, they shared ideas and provided input related to addressing the needs of the students and families in Aldine ISD. The event was hosted by the Family and Community Engagement Department. Faith-based leaders from the following churches were in attendance: Vida City Church, P.Y.G. Connect, The Light of the World, The Harvest, Abundant Love Ministry, Fallbrook Church, Full Gospel Holy Temple, New Bethlehem M.B.C., and The Word Church Online. It was an engaging roundtable discussion that was engaging and insightful.
ACET Conference
FACE Director LaTashia Abrams and Executive Director Dr. Martha Escalante presented at the Association for Compensatory Educators of Texas (ACET) Conference that was held in San Marcos. Participants learned about the ways Aldine ISD Family and Community Engagement Department is strengthening partnerships with families, neighborhoods, and community partners by designing engagement opportunities that build collaborative relationships with families and the community and promote the efficacy of families through adult education and leadership opportunities.
