This past Tuesday, Sra. Rosenstein took Spanish 4 students on an exciting cultural field trip to Repertorio Español, where they watched La Gringa, a thought-provoking play exploring themes of identity, family, and what it means to feel caught between two cultures.

Students experienced live Spanish-language theater while connecting class topics to a powerful real-world performance. After the show, the group enjoyed "una comida deliciosa" together at Latin American Restaurant on 26th ST.. It was a fun and enriching day of language, culture, and learning beyond the classroom.

We’re excited to tell you more about the trips we’re planning with EF Tours, our educational travel partner. Please be sure to register for this info session to learn more about this opportunity.

When students travel, they expand their knowledge of the world around them, discover more about themselves, and grow more confident. These skills are critical for creating the global citizens of tomorrow, and we would love to have your student join us on this adventure.

In this info session, we’ll talk about:

  • How this opportunity will benefit students
  • What we’ll see and do on our trips
  • Everything that’s included in this experience
  • How your child can earn academic credit
  • How we’re keeping this safe and affordable
  • How to enroll on this trip (before it fills up!) during EF’s risk-free enrollment period

The meeting will be held on Monday, May 4, at 7pm via Zoom. There are limited spots on this trip, so we would love to have you attend this meeting to learn more about this exciting opportunity! Due to high demand, please only use one account per family to join us for the info session as Zoom has a capacity of 300 and in previous years we ran out of space for everyone to attend the meeting. A follow up email will also go out to all who registered with the details regarding the information presented in the meeting.

SGO Elections for 2026-2027 SGO Elections for 2026-2027

Our mission statement: LaGuardia’s Student Government Organization strives to represent students as they develop themselves artistically and academically through the opportunities of LaGuardia’s unique curriculum. As the bridge between the Administration and the Student Body, we work to ensure consistent and efficient communication, and a supportive, welcoming, and fun school environment.

A student may vote only for all school-wide positions, their grade level representative, and their studio representative. Any student who votes for any other position (e.g. not your studio or your year) will have the entire ballot deleted and their vote will not count.

TIMELINE:

March 28 - Application Opens

April 14 (8am) - Application Closes

April 20 - Candidates receive email confirming they can begin campaigning

April 20 - April 24- Campaign Period

April 22-24 - Voting Window. Voting Closes on April 24 at 3:00 PM

April 27 - Elected Officers Announced

April 29 - Interviews for appointed positions (after school)

May 1 - SGO Cabinet Announced

Rank Choice Voting Replaces Run Off System. Ranked-choice voting (RCV) is a democratic method that allows you to rank candidates in order of preference—marking your first choice, second choice, and so on—rather than picking just one person.

Four positions will be chosen through an interview process after students vote for the candidates. Students with the top 5 votes received will move on to a group interview and a project discussion in front of a panel consisting of teachers, students, and staff, who have knowledge relative to each position. Note: If there are 5 or fewer applicants, the top 3 will move on to the interviews. These positions are: Club Liaison, Environmental Advocate, Events Liaison, and Sports Representative. The students who move on to the interview will be given specific instructions for the interview and project once the top 5 votes per position are announced.

Senior Dues and Caps & Gowns

Each Senior is responsible for contributing towards Senior Class Expenses. Senior Dues is made up of 2 general categories: 1) Cap & Gown Package, and 2) Graduation & Yearbook. (Prom is a separate expense and payment.) LaGuardia takes advantage of volume discounts; spreading expenses over the entire grade allows us to have the cost of Senior Dues the lowest price possible. This is why students may not pick & choose which expenses they want to pay -- this would increase the price for everyone.

Graduation & Yearbook: $200.00

Cap & Gown Package: $62.20

Seniors need to pay for Senior Dues and their Cap & Gown (if not paid through the Smooth website) using the Class of '26 Senior Dues Payment Form! NOTE: Caps & Gowns have been ordered for everyone, even if you did not pay for your on the Smooth website.

In Boys Track and Field News, at last week’s Season Opener, the boys turned up the heat on a chilly day. Captain Alber Zheng showed us how it’s done, taking home the gold in Javelin, while Ariel Yaron battled for a stellar 2nd place finish in the Steeplechase. Gavriel Carmi hit a personal best in Discus, and Terry Whitfield crushed new records in both Discus and Javelin!
