February

It was wonderful to see so many of you at our LASL Annual PD Day. I am still feeling inspired by Dr. Pat Austin's keynote and the sessions that I got to attend.

Truly the best part of any conference or PD is getting to spend time meeting and talking to other school librarians. Often, we can feel "siloed" in our libraries. It is so helpful to know that you are never alone. Another librarian friend or colleague is just a phone call or email away.

If you could not make it to this year's PD Day, we hope that we will get to see you at the Louisiana Library Association Annual conference next month (March 5-7). Saturday, March 7 is School Library Day. Many of the Saturday sessions are geared towards us and will focus on topics relevant to school libraries. We will also host the Book Doctor Repair Workshop (free to attend with conference registration!) and the LASL sponsored lunch (for an additional $12.00) with the Book Doctor speaking about "More Books in More Hands."

Speaking of getting more books in more hands, I enjoyed catching children's books at the Krewe of Morpheus parade last night in New Orleans, and, on Thursday, I continued my tradition of throwing books and themed shoes to match the books in the Muses parade.

HAPPY MARDI GRAS!!!

Best,

Soline Holmes
