Good People,
From our PTA: Due to a very iffy weather forecast, Sanford movie night has been canceled. We will reschedule for a night this Spring. So sorry for the inconvenience.
This year our big goal is focused on literacy. We want every student at Sanford to have a paper book that they enjoy and can read. Hopefully, they will read many books this school year! During advisory on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday students have been assigned WIN groups (What I Need). Most students will participate in DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) for their WIN group. Some students will receive additional support from teachers in reading, math, social/emotional learning and special education services.
We are happy that next week we will have an author visit in which some teachers will bring their students to our auditorium and listen to author ND Stevenson. The Wild Rumpus Bookstore is partnering with us to bring this author visit to our school. You might recognize ND from his book 'Nimona' (with a Netflix movie of the same name!), the 'Lumberjanes' graphic novel series, and the Netflix series 'She-Ra and the Princesses of Power'!
Two reminders: No School Tuesday and Picture Day Friday September 26!
In Partnership,

Our friends at the Hiawatha-Howe Community School PTO are organizing a community blood drive to stand in support of the Annunciation community and help respond to the critical platelet shortage. Pledges are needed for a date to be set. The goal is for the blood drive to be scheduled for March 10 to coincide with service night at Hiawatha-Howe. If you're interested, please complete the Blood Drive Pledge here.
Our next meeting is October 21st from 6:00p-7:30p in the media center at Sanford. Enter through the main entrance - Door 12. All are welcome!
