Hello Eisenhower Families,

I think many people agree that, of the most important skills in life, most are learned and developed in elementary school. I can confidently say that there isn't a team who is better tasked, cares more or works harder for students and families than TEAM EISENHOWER! I am incredibly proud to walk alongside such an incredible team of people every single day.

On behalf of our Eisenhower staff, I want to say how incredibly proud we are of each and every student. I'd like to extend a special THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS to our fifth grade students!! It has been a gift to watch you learn and grow. We know that the skills you have developed will take you far. Good luck in middle school and enjoy the freedom of not having to walk quietly in a line any longer!

For the rest of our Eagles, we are counting down the days until we see you in September. Remember to keep your skills sharp to start next year strong. Read a lot, practice math and play outside A LOT!!

Families, we cannot thank you enough for sharing your amazing children with us. We appreciate the trust you show in us, your support and your partnership in all things.

In appreciation and partnership,

Principal DeRung

School wide progress update

Our school improvement plan includes academic success, school environment (Catalyst), social emotional learning and student empowerment. Our team worked very hard in each area and our students are shining. The process we used to get each student what they need specific to their instructional levels proved to be a huge success. As a whole we worked on early literacy skills, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. We aligned our W.I.N. groups (What I Need) to these specific skills across grade levels and saw amazing growth in our students.

Catalyst is an approach that our whole team utilizes which incorporates the use of visuals and nonverbals in management. We are fortunate to have a Catalyst coach come to our building to support the use of these skills. This year our team utilized 98% of these coaching time slots! This is incredible given there aren't teachers available in the middle portion of the day with lunch, recess and specials.

For social emotional learning, our school is Character Strong as our teachers are supporting the development of character traits that will serve our students well in life. These traits include respect, responsibility, gratitude, empathy, perseverance, honesty, cooperation, courage and creativity.

Next year we will continue working on academic achievement, refining Catalyst skills, student leadership and family engagement.

Hip-hip-hooray! What a spectacular year we've had at Eisenhower Elementary!

To our incredible volunteer superstars: you absolute legends, we couldn't have done it without you!

Think of the mountains you moved! From a blizzard of copies and laminating to hanging beautiful art, snapping the perfect photos, and keeping us fueled with food donations. Whether you were rocking it as a Watch Dog, chaperoning field trips, dancing the night away at the family dance, or making your voice heard at PTO meetings—you were our MVP. You powered our fundraisers like Hike for Ike and the Book Fair, helped with screenings, and most importantly, you showed up with a smile every single time. Our school shines brighter because of YOU! We’re already counting down the days until we can welcome you back this fall for more fun and community. Have the most sun-tastic summer—you’ve earned it!

Sincerely,

Kathrina Dekruyff-Glass
