AMS Weekly Update

Dear Ashland Middle School Parents and Guardians,

While I don't want to rush summer away, I want to ensure we get important dates on your family calendars.

I am excited to introduce myself as the new Principal of Ashland Middle School. My name is Erin Lachapelle, and I bring 18 years of experience in education to this role. My journey began as a classroom teacher at Grafton High School for 11 years, followed by 7 years as the Dean of Students at Ashland High School. I am thrilled to continue my professional journey within the Ashland community.

On a personal note, I live with my husband of 14 years and our two children, who are entering 6th and 3rd grade. As both an educator and a parent, I understand the importance of fostering a positive and supportive school environment where every student feels safe and valued.

I am committed to the Ashland Public Schools mission: "We are committed every minute, every hour, every day, to every student." I firmly believe that positive relationships at school are the foundation for student success. At Ashland Middle School, our core values of Respect and Responsibility are integral to creating a safe and comfortable environment for all students.

Important Information and Upcoming Events

As we prepare for the new school year, here are a few key dates and pieces of information to keep in mind:

• Meet the Principal: August 8th, 9-10AM or 4-5PM. Please complete this form if you plan to attend.

• 6th Grade and New Student iParent Account Registration: by August 16th

• Visit the AMS webpage and click on “iParent Registration” under the Quick Links heading to sign up for iParent.

• If you have an existing iParent account for an older student you can email Ms. Lester at llester@ashland.k12.ma.us and she will add your rising 6th grader to your account.

• Student Schedules Released in iParent: August 21st-by 5pm

• 6th Grade Orientation: August 22nd (Parent/guardian must attend with student). This is not a required event, but highly recommended.

• Last names A-L: 4:00-5:00 pm

• Last names M-Z: 5:00-6:00 pm

• Optional 7th-8th Grade Locker Setup: August 23rd, 12:30-2:00 (Parent/guardian must attend with student).

• First Day of School: August 28th

• Back-to-School Night:

• 6th Grade: September 18th, 6-8pm

• 7th & 8th Grades: September 19th, 6-8pm

School supply lists and summer reading assignments are posted on the AMS webpage.

If your student is planning to play a fall sport, registration is now open and can be found on the Athletics Webpage.
