Hello families!

Fourth grade students at RES have the opportunity to participate in the KIDS HEART CHALLENGE (formerly known as “Jump Rope for Heart”).

For this event, RES fourth grade students practice jump rope skills in PE classes and learn about their heart in health class. We will also discuss how the heart works, what is good for your heart and what is not good for your heart. RES will also have wellness week in March! Stay tuned!

If students CHOOSE TO donate to the American Heart Association they will receive THANK YOU GIFTS. Students do not have to collect donations. Students need to go online with an adult to register. All donations should be made online. Collecting donations is a choice but all students will be expected to jump rope in class. Please register your child online under Rye Elementary School using this link. You can also use a mobile app, Kids Heart Challenge.

https://www2.heart.org/site/SPageNavigator/ym_khc_get_started_guide.html

Please feel free to email me with any questions. hwarden@sau50.org.

All donations must be received by Tuesday, March 3. Thank you gifts should arrive by late March or Early April. Some smaller thank you gifts will be available sooner, larger ones will need to be ordered. (ie. t- shirts, playground ball). After clicking on the link be sure to scroll down to read about the thank you gifts, matching gifts and Finn’s mission.

It is SCHOOL COUNSELOR WEEK! We wanted to acknowledge Mrs. Arsenault and the lengths she goes to keep our students safe, physically and emotionally. Lori supports our students, staff, and families and we all feel that support here, each and every day. If you have a moment to write her a quick note for something she has done or said that made your child OR YOU feel welcomed, included, heard OR HAPPY we would truly appreciate it. We thank her so much for...EVERYTHING she does.

Shawn Tobey recently visited our fourth graders to share his civil engineering work related to solar panels. Shawn taught the students about the importance of renewable energy and the process involved with building solar fields. The students were very curious and eager to ask thoughtful questions. They are applying the knowledge they acquired to complete a hand-ons STEAM project with Mrs. Boulay that also includes a Spanish componen that incorporates their work in World Language with Señora Piper! Excellent!

LUNCH IN THE CAF LUNCH IN THE CAF

You are welcome to join us in the cafeteria during your child's lunch block! There is no pressure to attend but it the door is open to you if you find this works with your schedule. Due to cafeteria space and tables, we invite one family member at a time to have lunch with their child(ren). Lunch is a wonderful time for kids to practice their social skills and build relationships with their peers. We actively monitor these times and encourage student growth and independence while also keeping a focus on fueling their bodies with food! This occasional experience offers you a special time to join your child in their social world at RES.
  • Email resoffice@sau50.org if you would like to attend with the date/time. It is important to anticipate who will be in the building. We love these opportunities for students and their family members but we will always put safety first.
  • Adults must bring their own lunch and can bring lunch for their own child.
  • We do have a focus during this time...eating for energy and brain power!
  • Family members must meet the child in the cafeteria and leave from the cafeteria BEFORE we line up all the children.
  • Days for family visits are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Lunch times are:
  • Kindergarten-11:45-12:10

    First Grade-12:15-12:40

    Second Grade-12:15-12:40

    Third Grade- 11:15-11:40

    Fourth Grade-11:15-11:40
