Testing and replacement of the district's fire extinguishers began in September. Let's hope no one has to use them! Common hazards include space heaters, refrigerators, microwaves, and lamps.

Appliances are strongly discouraged, but if you must include them in your areas, it is important to plug them into a circuit breaker strip and switch it off or unplug it when you leave for the day.

The National Energy Education Development (NEED) website has 100+ curriculum resources and many are free. Click the Energy Awareness link to explore efficiency and conservation methods for an array of energy sources.

FCS continues to monitor and invest in HVAC systems utilizing ESSER funds. In summer 2023 FCS installed new HVAC systems and components at Beulah Ralph, Blue Ridge, Field, Fairview, Grant, Hickman, Jeff, Oakland, Paxton, Rock Bridge High, Ridgeway, and Smithton.

Submitting work orders is the fastest way to let us know:

• your room's thermostat isn't working. Each room has a thermostat that is designed for the size of room in which it is located. If your room is uncomfortable, let us know.
  
• windows or doors need gaps sealed. Energy use and costs may increase an estimated 10% when warmth escapes.

The district continues to transition to Brightly's work request portal. FCS is continuing to hone the application to suit the districts' needs. For assistance, please contact Lisa Ballard.

All district staff should have one - and practice using it. In the event of an intruder, it allows room occupants to lock doors from within, rather than enter the hallway. Reminder: CPS security procedure requires closed doors when occupied. Help "STOP THE PROP!"

Key Shop Reminders

• List multiple staff's key requests on one work order so that they can be delivered together.
• Never mail keys. As with requests, submit Key Shop work orders and Blake Bennington or Justin Neal will come to you.
