ELA Curriculum Adoption
The K-5 English Language Arts Adoption process is well underway. The committee will begin its review of all submitted proposals on Saturday.
At the same time, our district community is invited to take part in an important opportunity to provide feedback on potential resources to be used for K-5 English Language Arts (ELA) instruction in our schools.
Community Review Round One opens from Sept. 13 through the close of business on Sept. 26. Staff, families and community members are encouraged to participate. Surveys are translated into the top five languages.
While there are several instructional materials proposals under consideration, interested parties can review as many or as few as time permits. Every response supports the committee’s recommendations.
To participate, please visit the K–5 ELA Curriculum Adoption Website and look for the section titled “ Curriculum Review – First Round.” There, you’ll find content sent by vendors to provide information about their materials and methods, and a short survey to share your feedback.
Have a great week!
Warmly,
Liz McFarland (she/her)
Principal
PTA events and news!
PTA NEWS!
Walk and Rollathon is Friday October 3
Our first major kid-powered FUNdraiser of the year is in Two weeks. Check your kid’s backpack for their pledge packet. Pledge packets have a handy FAQ sheet, a pledge form, and an envelope for donations.
On October 3, please send your student(s) to school ready for some fresh air and physical activity: comfy shoes for running or walking, comfy exercise clothes, rain gear if it’s looking wet out there, and a Full Water Bottle so they can stay hydrated. The class that raises the most money will win the Big Shoe and the class that walks or rolls the farthest will get to pick a teacher to get a pie in the face!
We need volunteers! See what we need and when your kid is walking or rolling:
You must be a registered volunteer with SPS to help. Volunteer registration lasts for 2 years, so if you went through the process to help at last year’s walk and roll-a-thon or field day you are good to go. If not, details to apply are here. You must apply straight away to be approved in time.
Spirit Wear
Spirit wear shop is open until October 7! Get your Green Lake merch!
