Transition to Hybrid Schedule
Students will return to our buildings on October 19
October 1, 2020
Dear Freehold Regional Community,
Thank you for your cooperation, collaboration, and feedback as we have successfully completed the first few weeks of the 2020-2021 school year. We are excited to finalize our planning for the transition to a Hybrid Schedule with in-person learning and welcome students back to our buildings beginning on Monday, October 19, 2020.
Our Hybrid Schedule blends in-person learning with synchronous remote learning from home. On October 19, students in Cohort A-L will be in the school building while Cohort M-Z will participate remotely in the same format they have since the beginning of the school year. As a reminder, students both in school and at home will continue to attend their scheduled classes every day following the partial day bell schedule via Google Meet and Google Classroom. After the partial day schedule ends, teachers will support students during designated times until the end of the full day bell schedule.
Students are assigned their cohort by last name.
Last Names A-L:
In-Person Learning: Mondays & Tuesdays and alternating Wednesdays
Remote Learning: Thursdays & Fridays and alternating Wednesdays
Last Names M-Z:
In-Person Learning: Thursdays & Fridays and alternating Wednesdays
Remote Learning: Mondays & Tuesdays and alternating Wednesdays
FRHSD self-contained special education and English Language Learners:
In-Person Learning: Monday through Friday
The FRHSD Rotating Block Schedule provides a calendar view of each cohort’s days of in-person learning and remote learning. Please note, per Governor Murphy’s order, all students will participate in remote instruction on Election Day, November 3, 2020. You can find our Early and Late School Bell Schedule here.
Additionally, we are providing parents with the opportunity to update your choice for your child to participate in the Hybrid Schedule or Full-time Remote Choice Option. Please login to the Genesis Parent Portal and complete the “October 2020 Hybrid/Remote Genesis Questionnaire” for each child enrolled in the FRHSD by Wednesday, October 7, 2020.
Your building principal will e-mail you with detailed instructions regarding health and safety protocols for returning to school.
The nature of COVID-19 makes it likely that we will, despite our best efforts, have positive cases this school year. We will do everything possible on our end to prevent the need for a building closure, but we need the support of our community in order to continue in the Hybrid Schedule. Please speak with your student(s) regarding the importance of social distancing, particularly at off-campus events. If we all remain vigilant and follow current CDC health guidance, our students will be able to enjoy some normalcy this school year.
As described on page 2 of the FRHSD Charting the Course to Reopening Schools, the district will follow CDC guidelines regarding positive test results for COVID-19. When district administrators receive notification of a positive COVID-19 test result, administrators in collaboration with the local Health Department will conduct contact tracing to determine if the person with a positive test result had close contact with any other individuals while at school. All identified close contacts will be notified by the school administration and will receive additional calls from the Health Department. The district’s COVID-19 Information Page will continue to be updated. Please remember, there is a fine line between transparency and individual health/privacy concerns due to HIPAA regulations.
I thank you all for your continued support. As restrictions are lifted, and if we are safely able to do so, it is our goal to transition students back to school in phases over the coming months. We will continue to provide regular updates to all.
Sincerely,
Charles B. Sampson, Ed.D.
