Greetings SCMEA Piano Division Members:
Congratulations to all of the teachers who had students perform at this weekend's Masterclass with College of Charleston's Dr. Tom Hicks & Honors Piano Recital. The students came prepared and really shined. We know this is from the support they get from you in the classroom everyday.

And finally, it's been another terrific year for SCMEA Piano Division. Our organization continues to grow and reach new schools, more students, and effect more instruction in classrooms and studios. I can't thank our officers enough for keeping this small organization running smoothly. I speak for my fellow officers when I say that it is all a labor of love for children, music education, and as a service to our music community that is so rewarding. I encourage everyone to get more involved so we can share in the exciting things we all have to give.

SC Department of Education: PIANO TEXTBOOK INPUT!
Exciting news: 2026 will be the FIRST time Piano textbooks will ever be added to the State Textbook Adoption List! The inclusion of piano will save a considerable amount of money for our music programs. It also means that our subject matter is Growing.
Please take a moment to reflect on your programs at your level and include any textbooks or supplemental material you would like to see added to the SCDE Textbook list. CLICK HERE for the survey.

The deadline for submissions is June 15, 2026. Notifications of acceptance will be made by September 15, 2026.
