MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS
Dear Eagles and Families,
This past week we engaged our CPS communities with CTE Middle School Day Exploration and the Robotics Lego Tournament. These experiences amplify our slogan, “Our History Guides Our Future”. To witness so many young students walk into Lindblom and show excitement for the possibilities of being technologically savvy warms our hearts. We had family night with our 8th grade parents and FAFSA night with our 12th grade parents. Lastly, we had outreach to our 10th through 12th grade families to present opportunities for college credit at some of the most elite universities free of charge. Much of this speaks to the progress we’re making with our CIWP goals.
Lindblom is in the second year of our three year CIWP (Continuous Improvement Work Plan) cycle. The CIWP is a strategic plan developed and informed by student data to improve student learning outcomes. Our two CIWP priorities are centered around 1. Curriculum and Instruction, and 2. Connectedness and Wellbeing. Our curriculum and instruction focus involves our Instructional Leadership Team leading learning cycles on the best research-based practices to provide specific, actionable, and timely feedback to students to improve their learning. The connectedness and wellbeing priority centers around implementing a comprehensive MTSS framework with fidelity in which interventions are identified and provided to students who require the most support.
Our ILT has surveyed students about their impressions of grading practices, engaged in learning walks, peer observations, and planned professional learning around the shift in language from Proficiency-Based Learning to Competency-Based Education. Each department has also picked a research-based strategy to test and implement in classrooms.
Our MTSS team utilizes an internal universal tracker for all grade levels to identify students who need tier-one interventions in academic, attendance, and socio-emotional matters. Each grade level is working towards hosting celebrations, interventions, and informative town halls to ensure students receive the resources and support they need. We have also targeted Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for ELA and Math, which were coordinated by our MTSS interventionists.
We thank our school community and stakeholders for their investment in our progress.
Sincerely,
Lindblom Administration

Dual Enrollment
On December 11th and 12th, we will have a representative from the City Colleges of Chicago in room 313 to assist students in registering for spring semester dual enrollment (DE) classes.
Currently Enrolled Students: All students currently enrolled in a DE class that takes place during the school day must register for a second-semester class that meets at the same time. Failure to register will result in an F on your transcript for the second semester.
New Enrollees: New enrollees for the spring semester can only take classes after school or on weekends. We are working on securing a 3rd date for our CCC rep to come into the building and we will communicate that once it is confirmed.

Starting second semester, students with an unweighted GPA of 3.0 after 7 semesters can qualify for college-ready coursework without having to take a placement exam or have the requisite SAT score. Please consider if you have students who can take advantage of this increased opportunity to participate in early college coursework and if this new qualifier would make additional spring dual credit coursework more feasible.

BE IMPACTFUL
Tell Chicago Your Story!
High school students: Wouldn’t it be cool to have your writing published in the Chicago Sun-Times as a guest columnist?!
Here’s your chance to turn that dream into reality! You're invited to submit a short column about your vision for the future, based on the theme "Looking Ahead." However you interpret the theme is fair game – whether it’s writing about personal goals, professional aspirations, the environment, diversity or politics, we want to hear your unique perspective.
Here’s how it works:
· Submit an original, unpublished 525-600 word writing sample* in English or Spanish, now through December 31.
· We're accepting submissions from high schoolers only. All entrants under the age of 18 must submit a parental consent form.
· A panel of Sun-Times staff will choose guest columnists to feature.
· Columnists will have an opportunity to have their final column edited by a Sun-Times editor.
· Winners will each receive a $250 stipend and be published in the paper and online.

Lindblom History Project
🦅📕📚Shout out to Mr. Roy Pearson (Sw68p), Mr. Dudek, and the thousands of Lindblom alumni who contributed to the Lindblom History Project. 📚📕🦅 👏🏾🦅For the first time in the history of Chicago Public Schools, a high school has commercially published the first of a three volume micro and macro centennial history of the years 1919-2019 in Chicago, from the perspective of the former students, faculty and administrators who were in residence at Lindblom during those years.🦅👏🏾 Do you want a copy? Go to: bit.ly/LindblomHP_V1 The 457-page first volume (1919-1969), researched and written by the 92-alumni Lindblom History Project, is the first of the three volume history to be published. Volume II (1970-2019) will be published in 2025 and Volume III (select essays, pictures and charts looking back over the entire 100 years) will be published in 2026.
Attendance
Our week 14 attendance ended with 92.05%. As a reminder, students that are late to first and/or fifth periods will count towards their 5 tardies in a week. The attendance policy is included here. Feel free to email Mr. Hayes, our attendance coordinator, if there are questions about your attendance, bdhayes2@cps.edu.
