Message from the Principal
Dear Swartz Families-
It is so hard to believe that it is already the middle of October. Time is just flying by, and we have so many exciting weeks and events coming up.
Red Ribbon Week - 10/26 - 10/30 - Please see below for the daily themes to celebrate.
Halloween will be celebrated on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29th. Students may wear their costumes to school. Costumes MUST be school-appropriate and follow all of the handbook guidelines. Absolutely NO weapons, full face coverings, or clothing that is revealing or disruptive to class. Students must wear their costumes to school and will not be allowed to change or apply makeup during the day. Students will follow a typical school day in their costumes, so if their costume cannot be worn all day or outside, we ask that they do not bring these to school. Costumes that require a blow-up fan will only be allowed during the parade.
Halloween Parade will take place at 1:30 PM on the blacktop along the playground. All parents and families are welcome to watch.
FTC-sponsored classroom parties will take place immediately following the parade. Students MAY NOT bring in any candy or additional food items. All food items not provided by FTC will be sent home with students.
Only parents approved through FTC will be allowed in the building for the classroom parties.
Parent/Teacher Conferences at Stella May Swartz - will take place on Thursday, November 5th, 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM, and Wednesday, November 11th, 3:00 - 6:30 PM. Please be on the lookout for a sign-up link from your child's teacher. All conference sign-ups must be submitted by November 1st. Please only select one time slot per student.
SAVE THE DATES!
Thursday, October 29th - Halloween at SMS - 1:30 PM Parades and FTC Parties immediately following the parade
Friday, October 30th - D48 Half Day - Dismissal at 10:40 AM
Sunday, November 1st - All Parent/Teacher Conference times must be submitted to the classroom teachers.
iReady Personalized Lessons
At the start of the 26-27 school year, we shared our Swartz iReady agreement with all of our students and families. All of our teachers, students, and families signed off on the agreement that students would COMPLETE and PASS at least 2 Reading iReady lessons and 2 Math iReady lessons each week.
Today your child will be bringing home a paper if they HAVE NOT MET THEIR iReady expectations as of October 16th. Each student should have completed and passed 12 reading and 12 math lessons.
Please continue to promote this individualized learning at home. We appreciate the support and collaboration to provide the best for your students.
You can always check your child's progress on iReady by following these directions - https://tinyurl.com/2s334smt
