Massive Thanks to The Enoch Cobb Fund Trustee Steve Heslinga and Grants Manager Jackie Gillis for supporting our students entering The Scholastic Art Awards! Over 40 students entered work in this Prestigious, Nationally Recognized Award and this would simply not be possible without the generous support of the Cobb Fund!

Congrats as well to all of our Fabulous, Talented Students for entering! Regardless of how the judging goes (but who are we kidding -- they'll crush!), there is tremendous value in our students taking that risk to present their work out to the world. It takes a ton of hard work and bravery so kudos to all!

Mr. Miguel's Studio Art 2 students used references provided from teachers, family members or friends to create these watercolor paintings. Students learned how art can connect us to important people and places through shared stories captured in a landscape. They encourage us to consider our own special people and places and see the world through someone else's eyes.

Ms. Mueller's 8th Grade Art classes have created a colorful swarm of water color insects! Students chose a insect that spoke to them for a variety of reasons and then experimented with and practiced their observational skills with water color! The results have the whole building Aflutter!

Last Newsletter, we teased a Collaborative printmaking exhibition with steadfast community Partners The Cahoon Museum of American Art! Well, on Dec 6th, Ms. Fay Smith's Studio Arts students celebrated the opening! The show is up now so check it out! Again, thanks to all for providing this awesome opportunity to our students!

A number of our breathtakingly spectacular alumni shared what they are up to out there in the wide, wide world! Could we get a better community of creative makers? No we could not.

New England Emmy award winning and PAAM exhibitor Brianna Brann has a freelance Videography and Photography business with a client list including the Cotuit Center for the Arts and FX's American Horror Story! She documents a panoply of live events with an edge including concerts, fashion shows and sporting events! We are also lucky enough to have her working right here in the building as The Video Specialist for the Town of Barnstable! Do yourself a favor and checkout her jawdropping Portfolio!

Max graduated from Barnstable High School in 2021 and continued his art career at Emmanuel College, where he is currently finishing up his degree in Art Education by student teaching right here at BHS! He is doing a great job and says, "I am thankful to be a temporary part of the teaching staff that had such a big impact on me." Right back at you Max! Check out his meticulously executed pencil drawings below!

We got the fabulous video update below on BHS Art Alum Kayla Jorgensen from the equally fabulous Ms. Netto, who had Kayla on the Insight staff. Kayla eloquently talks about her experiences here at BHS, specifically Mr. Farrell's Digital Media class, Ms. Netto's Insight Class, and her internship at Cape Media Center, and how they shaped her career path as a student at Fitchburg State to her work now as a videographer. Kudos to current BHS students Jazzy Coyer, Camilla Nascimento and Kathleen Ramos for putting the piece together!

Ms. Fay Smith's Studio Arts Students painted detailed portrait of some sweet, sweet rides!

Ms. Mueller's 8th Grade Art students did a fa-booyah job on creating their value studies of eyes!

Mr. Skirvan's Digital Photography 1 Students explored combining text and images in this imaginative project!

Graphic Design 1 students worked to reimagine a favorite book cover with typography and images!

The inimitable Ted Skirvan has a wonderful show up at Barnstable Town Hall! The show demonstrates his wide artistic range and inspirations, from Cape Cod Seascapes to Music luminaries! Check it out and give him a follow on the insta @ beachpointdesigns!
