Student and Family Shout-Outs! Student and Family Shout-Outs!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for all of your support in making this an amazing start to the 2026–2027 school year! Whether you have donated supplies, supported our efforts to keep students safe, respectful, responsible, and fair, or followed traffic rules and staff directions in our parking lot, we appreciate you!

This week, we met with all of our students for our annual Behavior Expectations Assemblies, and one thing quickly became clear: our Lions are learning the expectations—and many of them already know them well! 🦁

During the assemblies, we asked students to help us remind their families about the importance of always using the crosswalks when arriving at and leaving school. We were excited to catch these Lions and their families doing exactly that this week!

Of course, these students earned a PAW Pride! 🐾 PAW Prides can be saved to earn bigger prizes or placed into our prize boxes for a chance to win a weekly prize.

Great job, Lion students and families! Thank you for modeling safe choices and working together to make LaVorgna a safe and positive place for everyone.

Keep up the great work, Lions! 🦁💙💛

E-Bikes & Electric Scooters: Know Before They Ride

Parents, please be aware that not all electric bikes are legally considered e-bikes in California. Some faster or more powerful electric bikes may be classified as mopeds, motor-driven cycles, or motorcycles and may require a valid driver’s license, registration, and/or insurance. If your child is not old enough or properly licensed, they may not legally operate these vehicles on public streets.

🚫 Electric Scooters Are Not Allowed

Students are not permitted to ride electric scooters to school. For the safety of our students, please make alternate transportation arrangements.

🚲 E-Bikes

Before allowing your child to ride an e-bike to school, please make sure the vehicle is age-appropriate, legally classified, and permitted for your child to operate under California law.

Important: If your child rides an electric scooter or an e-bike that they are not legally permitted to operate to school, they will not be allowed to ride it home. A parent/guardian will be contacted and required to pick up the child and the e-bike or scooter.

Click on this link to see the TVUSD E-Bike Safety Rules and Regulations for additional information and guidance.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students safe and ensure they are following school expectations and California law.

VAPA Music begins next week for ALL LaVorgna students!

We are excited for another year of music, creativity, and learning with our Lions.

📣 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

FOR 4TH & 5TH GRADE STUDENTS & FAMILIES

As part of our VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts) General Music Program, 4th and 5th grade students who did not have music in 4th grade will have the opportunity to learn to play the recorder!

Learning the recorder is a fun, hands-on way for students to:

  • 🎶 Learn to read music
  • 👂 Develop listening and ear-training skills
  • 🎵 Practice rhythm and melody
  • 🎼 Build beginning instrumental skills
  • ⭐ Experience the excitement of making music!

🎁 RECORDERS ARE PROVIDED FREE!

Every student will receive a brand-new plastic soprano recorder to KEEP!

Students will use their recorders during music class and, with parent/guardian permission and support, may bring them home to practice.

💙💛 YOU DO NOT NEED TO PURCHASE A RECORDER!

If a recorder is lost, or if you would like an additional recorder so your child can keep one at home and one at school, inexpensive recorders are available from retailers such as:

Amazon • Guitar Center • West Music • Target

Already have a recorder at home? If you are unsure whether it is the correct type, have your child bring it to school and show it to Mrs. Pink.

🥋 RECORDER KARATE

Students will use Recorder Karate as part of our recorder curriculum. This program makes learning music fun as students practice songs and develop their recorder skills.

Attendance Matters Every Day! Attendance Matters Every Day!

Dear Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! We are so excited to launch this year with our district-wide attendance theme: "Level Up!"

Just like in any great game, success starts with getting ready at Home Base. This August, our focus is "Press Start!"—establishing strong daily morning routines that set our young learners up to log in on time, feel confident, and get ready to grow every day.

3 Ways to Set Up Your "Home Base" Routines:

  • 🎒 Night-Before Inventory Prep: Lay out clothes, pack backpacks, and prepare lunches the night before so mornings are smooth and stress-free.

  • ⏰ Consistent Sleep & Spawn Times: Re-establish regular bedtimes and wake-up alarms to help your child feel rested and ready to learn.

  • 🚪 Aim for an Early Arrival: Plan to arrive at school 10–15 minutes before the bell rings. Arriving on time helps students connect with friends on the playground and start their day without feeling rushed.

When students are present every day, they gain the skills, confidence, and connection needed to level up their learning.

If your family needs support establishing morning routines, finding transportation solutions, or navigating any barriers to regular attendance, please reach out to our school office, we are here to support your team!

Thank you for partnering with us to make this school year an extraordinary adventure. Let’s Press Start and Level Up together!

Warmly,
