Weekly Update

Dear Elmore School Families,

And just like that, we are down to just 21 days until the end of the school year. This week brought everything but warm weather. We had cold wind, followed by cool rainy days, and of course... black flies which were pretty thick at ECO on Friday. As we wind down our final weeks of the school year, we are wrapping up our Animal research presentations and projects! Please stay tuned for information about our Nature Name museum when we will host after school one day later in May or the beginning of June.

We had an amazing morning on Wednesday with All the grandparents and special guests as we hosted our annual Grandparents Breakfast. Thanks to all for contributing to our feast. The menu was planned and prepared by the students and consisted of overnight oats, fruit salad, blueberry and plan pancakes, an egg back, sausage, bacon, and homemade pumpkin muffins. There was plenty of food to go around and the room was filled with smiles and laughter! We were so happy so many grandparents (and special guests) where able to attend.

On Friday, we had our last campsite ECO lesson. Students became "park rangers" as they set out to look for potential sights of erosion and then recorded in their journal what their course of action would be to help. During Forest choice everyone enjoyed toasting marshmallows for s'mores! Next week are planning an extended day for our end of the year hike. We will be hiking to the lookout on the fire tower trail where we will enjoy lunch with a view before we hike back down the trail. We should be back to school around 2:00.

We will have Family Hot Lunch on Monday. Kristen Soriano is planning to bring Grilled Chicken and Pesto Pasta, Fruit Salad, Dessert. School Hot Lunch will be available on Tuesday and Thursday next week. Please send our lunch orders by Sunday evening at 6:00 pm.

Have a wonderful week!

In gratitude,

Diane Nicholls
