Wildcat Community,

As the seasons begin to change, so does our pace here at Cedar Bluffs. With the fall activities season winding down and winter activities gearing up, it’s a great time to take a moment to slow down, reflect, and appreciate the progress our students and teams have made. Middle school boys’ basketball and girls’ wrestling are officially underway—best of luck to all our athletes as they begin their seasons! Our One-Act team has been working hard each morning perfecting their skill. We also want to wish our volleyball team good luck as they compete in subdistricts Monday night against Centennial, and possibly Freeman—go Wildcats! In the classroom, middle school students have smoothly transitioned into their second-quarter electives. Today marked the final day for any schedule changes, and we’re excited to see what our students will explore and accomplish in their new courses.

SAFE DRIVING REMINDER: PROTECT OUR STUDENTS

As a community, it’s important that we all do our part to keep Cedar Bluffs students safe. Recently, there have been reports of drivers — both students and adults — speeding or driving erratically near the school, especially during drop-off and pick-up times.

Please remember:

  • Slow down when approaching school zones and crosswalks.

  • Stay alert for students crossing the street, especially during busy morning and afternoon hours.

  • Avoid distractions such as phones while driving near campus.

  • Be patient — a few extra minutes of caution can prevent serious accidents.

Our students’ safety is worth every precaution. Let’s work together to make the area around our school safe for everyone.

AVEL NURSE - SCHOOL HEALTH

Avel School Health Nurse Program

Our school participates in the Avel School Health Nurse Program, which helps us provide quick access to healthcare during the school day.

  • How it works: If a student isn’t feeling well, they can visit with a registered nurse virtually through an iPad.

  • What the nurse does: The nurse will assess your child’s symptoms and make recommendations for care.

  • Parent communication: If the nurse feels your child should go home, you will receive a phone call directly from the nurse to discuss next steps. Please note: the call will come from 605-606-0550, which is not a school number. We encourage you to save this number in your contacts for easy recognition.

This program helps ensure that students get timely medical attention while at school and gives parents peace of mind knowing a licensed nurse is available when needed.

For questions about this service, please contact Mrs. Shaylee Siems at the high school office.
