Duke University Oncology Team Collaboration
We are proud to share an exceptional learning opportunity recently experienced by our CMHS students. Mr. Hollon’s Anatomy classes—along with our gifted, CCP, and medical pathway students—partnered with Melinda Greenwood from the Hamilton County ESC (Gifted Support) to collaborate with the distinguished medical team from Duke University and the Duke Cancer Institute.
Forty-five CMHS Anatomy students participated in this enriching experience, engaging directly with leading oncology and neuroscience professionals. The Duke team included Dr. Margaret Johnson, Associate Professor of Neurosurgery and Neurology and member of the Duke Cancer Institute; Dr. Katayoun Ayasoufi, Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and Pathology and member of the Duke Cancer Institute; and Laura Gorski, BSN, RN, CPN, OCN, Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator.
Through this collaboration, students gained valuable insight into cutting-edge cancer research, clinical practice, and the pathways that lead to careers in medicine. Opportunities like this exemplify our commitment to providing authentic, real-world learning experiences that inspire and prepare our students for future success in the medical field.
We extend our sincere thanks to our partners for investing in our students and helping bring classroom learning to life.
West Point Society of Cincinnati - Leadership Seminar
We are proud to share that our students recently participated in the annual Leadership & Ethics Seminar hosted by the West Point Society of Greater Cincinnati. This distinguished organization is comprised of Tri-State veterans, volunteers, and graduates of the United States Military Academy.
Each year, the Society brings the Academy’s renowned leadership training to more than 400 students and faculty members across the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region. The seminar is led by local West Point graduates and dedicated volunteers committed to developing the next generation of leaders.
This year Mckenzie Chiaravalle, Caleb Werling, and Mrs. Julie Kirby represented our school at this impactful event. Through meaningful networking opportunities, hands-on leadership training, professional development sessions, and collaborative problem-solving experiences, they strengthened their leadership skills and deepened their understanding of ethical decision-making.
CMHS Alumni Career Fair
Our recent Alumni Career Fair was an incredible success and a highlight of the semester for our sophomores, juniors, and seniors. We were proud to welcome back a diverse group of CMHS graduates who returned to campus to share their career journeys, professional insights, and advice with our students.
The day began with an inspiring keynote address from CMHS Class of 2013 graduate Bethany Ellen, owner of Bethany Ellen Artistic Images. Bethany shared how she built her photography business from the ground up, reminding students that career paths are rarely linear and that perseverance, creativity, and resilience can lead to meaningful success.
Students then participated in an interactive alumni panel discussion and Q&A session, hearing from professionals representing fields. A meet-and-greet session, small group conversations, and valuable opportunities for students to ask questions and make personal connections.
Thank you to all of our alumni panelists and our keynote speaker for investing your time, energy, and experience into our students. Your willingness to give back continues to strengthen our school community and inspire the next generation of CMHS graduates.

College Credit Plus Information 2026-2027
Letter of Intent Due by April 1, 2026
Students who will be in grades 7-12 for the 2026-2027 school year are eligible to participate in College Credit Plus (CCP), Ohio's dual-enrollment program. Students can enroll in college classes and will receive both college and high school credit for their completed courses. If you are interested in participating next year, please see the information below.
Ohio requires that you see (in person or virtually) a CCP information session each year.
If you attended the in-person session on February 12, you do not need to view the virtual option.
If you did not attend the session on February 13, you will need to review the CCP Counseling Info 2026-2027.
Students and parents are to review the information and to complete the Intent Form/Counseling Form together.
Every student who wants to participate in CCP for the 2026-2027 school year must complete the Intent to Participate/Counseling Form by April 1. Even those students who have participated in the past must complete the form. Any student who fails to have the form submitted by April 1 will not be able to participate in CCP for the summer/fall terms. For students who have previously taken CCP courses, they do not need to apply again.
After completion of the Intent/Counseling Form, students will apply to the college(s) of their choice. Students in grades 11-12 may not need to complete placement testing; they may be exempt from testing if their GPA is over 3.0 and they have completed 2 English and 3 math credits with a B or better. For students in grades 7-10, they will need to complete placement testing at their college. You can Google "CCP" and the college's name and you'll find their procedures and processes. You can apply to all CCP programs online, and some colleges allow for virtual testing.
For those students who are attending a career center, we will share the Intent/Counseling Form with the staff at the career center so that they know that you are eligible to participate next year.
Sinclair is our partner school, and the courses offered at CMHS (taught by CMHS teachers) are all through Sinclair. Any student who plans to sign up for CCP courses at CMHS will need to apply to Sinclair and to set up placement testing with the college. Please note that as thousands of applications are being submitted, it may take the colleges a while to process CCP applications. For any courses to be taken at CMHS, students must have their application submitted and their testing completed by June 1. After that date, students may still take the course(s), but it will not be at CMHS (online or at the college campus only). Students will be given the option to select CCP courses at CMHS on their course selection sheets (which will be received in March).
Any questions that you have are likely answered in the presentations linked above, but for any other questions, please email your school counselor.
