Trask Family Newsletter
Week of April 6, 2025
Principal Update
Trask families,
I hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather! We will take a break from the newsletter next Sunday and return on April 20th, 2025.
- STEAM NIGHT is this week, April 10th! The event begins at 5:00 and lasts until 6:30. Students must have a parent or guardian with them to attend, but feel free to bring the whole family! This is an excellent event for everyone to enjoy just before spring break!
- Calling all singers, comedians, magicians, gymnasts, sports experts, pianists, dancers! Whatever your talent, it's your time to be a STAR at the Trask Talent and Art Show! What you need to do: Come to an audition! Groups or solo - all acts are welcome! Acts MUST be no more than 2.5 minutes! Remember, choose age and school-appropriate songs/performances. Auditions are Tuesday, April 8th - 3.45 pm till 4.30 pm. Parents, please arrive for pick up no later than 4.20 pm. If you can't make it to that date, you can send a video audition to denisi.walker@nhcs.net. Please DO NOT attend the audition unless we have received your form! Email denisi.walker@nhcs.net with any questions. Here is the form: Trask's Got Talent Audition form
- Our PTA has another event this Tuesday, 4/8/25, at Chick-fil-A in Mayfaire! The event lasts from 7 to 7, and 20% of the proceeds come directly back to us!
- This week is National Assistant Principal Week. We would be nothing without the dedication, commitment, and expertise of our Mr. Brown and Mrs. Wedemeyer! WE ARE SO GRATEFUL for everything they do. When you see them, be sure to thank them this week!
- EOG Prep Rotations will begin on Monday. We previously shared an email with all of the information regarding this prep. It is extremely important that your child is in attendance and is on time for this final push! We appreciate your support with this.
- We need your help, parents. We are seeing a huge increase in students hiding phones and not securing them in their bags. We are also seeing students using their smartwatches to communicate. It is so important that every student follows our personal device policy while at school, and we need your help to reinforce this as well. Here is the link for your reference.
- It's the last week before spring break, and our students wanted to organize a spirit week! We know it's last minute, but we would love for everyone to participate! Monday: Motivation Monday: Wear motivational shirts! Tuesday: Teamwork Tuesday: Wear your favorite sports gear! Wednesday: Spirit wear Wednesday. Break out that Trask Gear! Thursday: Earth Day Thursday: Wear blue and green to celebrate Earth Day! Purple Forces Friday: Wear Purple to support our Military families!
- Lastly, when we return from spring break, we will have a grade-level challenge to collect change to change a local school's library. We just finished our school-wide read-aloud, Restart, and our student government association has teamed up to challenge our school to collect change to make a change! More information is listed on the flyer, and there is also a promotional video! The collection will occur from 4/22-5/2!
Have a great week!
Your principal,
Mrs. Kim Clark

UNCW STEAM Presentation Organization
On 4/7, The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) will be joining with Ms. Johnston's classes. SWE is an organization passionate about empowering diverse groups to pursue engineering and STEM related fields. They will share some of our favorite engineering projects/activities since many people know engineers but have no idea what we do on a day-to-day basis. We will be providing the kids with an opportunity to play with squishy circuits, a way to interactively and safely learn about electricity while allowing their creativity to flourish.
Additionally, they will learn about "The Helping Hand Project's. Their mission is to empower the limb difference community through education, support, and inclusive 3D printing solutions, providing children with cost-free recreational prosthetic devices and fostering a sense of belonging through community events."
