Hosford Middle School
May 17, 2026
Dear Families,
This week is outdoor school for our 6th grade students! Students should bring their outdoor school gear with them to Hosford at 10:45 am on Tuesday. Please park somewhere other than Grant Street. Grant Street is where the buses will pull up. Students will meet on Grant Street with their stuff. If your child is riding the bus in the morning, their host teacher will meet them at the buses. Click here for more information regarding outdoor school.
Don't forget to order your yearbook below, and maybe go to Hopworks tomorrow for dinner!
Hope you have a great week!

On June 4th, you are invited to participate in our clap out at 1:30 pm. We line the halls with students and walk our 8th graders through the building. Everyone claps and waves and holds signs.
The main hall has space to fill and we'd love to see you there. The students are clapped out of the building and we continue over to Cleveland HS for promotion practice.
8th Grade Promotion Details
The promotion ceremony for 8th Grade students is Thursday, June 4th at 6:30 pm at Cleveland HS. We will join together in the auditorium for an hour-long ceremony and then gather in the cafeteria for a snack and mingling until 8:00 pm. You may bring guests and we do not have tickets.
If you or a family member needs access without stairs, you'll enter at the entrance on Franklin Street and need to arrive between 6:00 and 6:30 pm. We’ll station a greeter there to guide you. We will not have staff stationed there after the start of the ceremony.
Special thanks to our 6th and 7th Grade parent volunteers and our PTSA for supporting our reception!! We look forward to celebrating the Class of 2030!!

7th Grade End of Year Field Trip
7th Grade Cinemagic Trip!
On Friday, June 5th Hosford 7th graders will celebrate a year of hard work by walking up to Cinemagic on Hawthorne to see the movie Frozen. We have enough money to purchase one small bag of popcorn per student. Cinemagic is graciously donating the space to us, and they will be selling concessions to kids. If your student would like to purchase concessions, please send them with money to do so.
Students will leave Hosford around 1:00 pm, walk to Cinemagic, enjoy their movie, and return to school around 3:30 pm. If you are interested in chaperoning, please reach out to Ms. Criswell: ecriswell@pps.net
Required: All students participating in the field trip will need a current Walking Field Trip Permission Form signed. Please complete this as quickly as possible. Only about 60 of the 170 students currently have one on file.

PTSA Help Needed
Dear Families,
Thank you for the support you have given us this year! We are so pleased to have been able to fund staff grants that directly impact our students' school experience. We are grateful to the parents who have stepped up to make the PTSA happen. We will miss those whose students are moving on to high school and are excited to meet the families of the incoming 6th graders.
As we look to next year we are in need of filling our board again so that we can again fund staff grants and hold teacher appreciation events.
The following positions are open for the 26-27 school year:
President
Vice President
Secretary
Staff appreciation chair
Fundraising chair
Communications chair
Member(s) at large
Without volunteers to take on these positions, we will not be able to have a PTSA and thus the school and our students will lose the support we have been giving them. We recognize that times are tough and many of us are overwhelmed with our to-dos yet we stand strong in the belief that together we can make the load lighter and take actions to make our students' world a bit better.
We meet about once a month during the school year and host 3 general meetings. Linked HERE you will find a breakdown of the tasks and time commitment of each role. This is a great opportunity to stay involved with your student’s school and play an active role in creating a positive and supportive community! We are also flexible – something is better than nothing and we value each other's time. Please reach out if you are interested or have any questions at ptsahosford@gmail.com
We will have our final PTSA General Meeting in the Hosford Library on Tuesday May 12th from 6:00-7:30 (Virtual link will be provided soon).
With Gratitude,
Jamie Lyle
Christine Barlow Reid
Chris Tyler
Sara Albert
Mandy Brigham
