Welcome and Announcements
Call to Worship
Our Call to Worship this morning is what is known as a Breath Prayer. A Breath Prayer is a simple, embodied practice that helps to ground us in our bodies and in time and place. We just need two phrases. The pastor will begin our call by saying, “God of land, bodies, and belonging.” Then we will collectively breathe in deeply. Once we’ve held that breath, as we breathe out again, we’ll say together: “We are here.” we’ll repeat this three times.
God of land, bodies, and belonging [breath in]
[as you breath out] We are here.
Singing and Praying Together
Friends, Welcome One Another (59)* - Bechler
Friends, welcome one another
As Christ has welcomed you.
Say “yes” to sister, brother,
And that way live anew.
Our life together is a sign
Of life to come in God’s design
The strong and weak will live as one,
Thanks to the risen Son.
Our model is the Savior
Whose grace is labeled “free.”
We offer to the neighbor
Christ’s hospitality.
In this way God is glorified,
Not by the vict’ry of “our side”
We welcome just as Christ,
And then we praise the Lord! Amen.
Scripture Reading: Exodus 17:1-7 (pg. 56) - Jeff Diehl
Prayers of the People
Spirit of The Living God (96) - Iverson
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me;
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me;
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
General Prayer of Intercession 115-116
Water Has Held Us v. 1-3 (408) - Bunessan
Water has held us, moved by creation.
Out of dark chaos, broke forth the light.
Up from the deluge, showing God’s promise,
Has come a rainbow, gladdening sight.
Water has saved us, as the sea parted
For Israel’s children, walled on each side.
This love has led us, helped us in trouble,
On far horizon, God’s cloud our guide.
Water has cleansed us, bathed with forgiveness,
has, with clear blessing, washed sin away.
Jordan’s strong currents God’s son announcing,
Made a beginning, baptismal day.
Scripture reading: Isaiah 43:16-21 & Isaiah 56:1-7 (pg, 586 & 599) - Jeff Diehl
How Clear Is Our Vocation, Lord (644) - Repton
How clear is our vocation, Lord,
when once we heed your call:
To live according to your word,
and daily learn, refreshed, restored,
That you are Lord of all and will not let us fall.
But if, forgetful, we should find
your yoke is hard to bear,
If worldly pressures fray the mind
and love itself cannot unwind
Its tangled skein of care: our inward life repair.
We mark your saints,
how they became in hindrances more sure,
Whose joyful virtues put to shame
the casual way we wear your name,
And by our faults obscure your pow’r to cleanse and cure.
In what you give us, Lord,
to do, together or alone,
In old routines or ventures new,
may we not cease to look to you,
The cross you hung upon, all you endeavored done.
Giving Back Together
Joyful Noise and Sharing of the Offerings
Offertory: Pilgrim’s Hymn - Stephen Paulus
Doxology: Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow - 817
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise him all creatures here below
Praise him above the heavenly hosts
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Prayer of Dedication
Joyful Noise Communal Response:
All: Accept these gifts we bring today,
For your will to be employed.
God hear us as we sing and pray
And make a joyful Noise! Amen.
Scripture reading: Acts 27:1;27-44 (pg. 911 & 912) - Olga Pirone
My Life Flows On (701) - How Can I Keep From Singing
My life flows on in endless song,
above earth's lamentation,
I hear the real, though far off hymn
that hails a new creation.
Refrain
No storm can shake my inmost calm,
while to that Rock I'm clinging.
Since love is Lord of heaven and earth,
how can I keep from singing?
Through all the tumult and the strife,
I hear that music ringing.
It sounds and echoes in my soul;
how can I keep from singing? Refrain
What though my joys and comforts die?
The Lord my Savior's living.
What though the darkness gather round?
Songs in the night he's giving. Refrain
The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart,
a fountain ever springing!
All things are mine since I am his!
How can I keep from singing? Refrain
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:1-13 (pg. 933) - Olga Pirone
In Our Churches, In Our Churches (52)* - Service
In our churches, in our churches, open wide the door;
Love should always, love should always,
journey with the poor.
Social status has no say, in the pattern of our way.
All are welcome, all are welcome, riches we ignore.
No distinctions, no distinctions shall divide us here;
God’s impartial, God’s impartial: everyone is dear;
Let this be our church’s goal: to include each needy soul;
Grace is given, grace is given: Christ has made that clear.
Show God’s mercy, show God’s mercy unto one and all;
Without judging, without judging as we need our call;
This is how our church shall be: filled with love and liberty,
In the Spirit, in the Spirit of our Savior’s law.
Sing Hallelujah, Praise The Lord (543) - Bechler
Sing hallelujah, praise the Lord! Sing with a cheerful voice;
exalt our God with one accord, and in his name rejoice.
Ne’er cease to sing, O ransomed host,
praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost,
until in realms of endless light your praises shall unite.
There we to all eternity shall join the angelic lays
And sing in perfect harmony to God our Savior’s praise;
He has redeemed us by his blood,
and made us kings and priests to God;
for us, for us, the Lamb was slain! Praise ye the Lord! Again.
But not for us alone this news
was brought by Christ our Lord.
‘Twas meant for all the world to hear
and thus with one accord
with all God’s children everywhere
his name and sign with pride we bear.
To us, to us, this task is giv’n:
To spread God’s word. Amen.
Benediction

Ways to Give to the Ministries at Calvary
As reminder, there are several different ways to give your offerings here at Calvary.
- Bring your offering to Sunday worship.
- Mail your offering to the church office at 948 N. 21st Street, Allentown, PA 18104.
- Use your bank’s “BILL PAY” service. A one-time or recurring payment can be made by a bank on your behalf. Banks that offer this service typically cut a check and mail it to the church at no cost to you. Contact your bank for details. The bank usually asks for an account number. Just call Calvary office beforehand and Jess will supply an account number to you or just use your envelope number.
- Make an online payment through the Moravian Giving Portal – https://mmfa.info/giving-portal/. Go to this link, click on our church’s name and follow the instructions to make a one-time gift or a recurring monthly gift. Donations can be made by members and non-members via direct debit of a bank account or by credit card. All donation processing fees for portal gifts are now paid by the Moravian Ministries Foundation – your full donation will be received by your church.
