Principal's Message
Dear Hallinan Families,
Our Hallinan students are AMAZING and I am very excited to share some news about a few recent achievements!
Our OBOB team, 4th graders, Ewan Cramer, Liam Dela Cruz, Meera Isaac and Cam Lesner won the Oregon Battle of the Books State Championship! They read some amazing books over the past year and have been outstanding competitors throughout the OBOB season. I am so proud of their efforts and teamwork. Their joy of reading - and competing - shines through in the photos below.
And even more good news, 5th grade sisters, Emma and Elise Irving entered the If I Were Mayor Contest and Emma won first place and Elise won second place! I've included a photo of Emma and Elise as well as their entries below. They competed against 4th-12th grade students, sharing creative and inspirational ideas about what they would do as mayor.
Congratulations to all - you are AWESOME!! And, a big shout out to the community of parents, coaches and staff that encourage and support our students!

Hello Hallinan Families!
Slice of Gratitude
This week we want to thank all the teachers for allowing us into their classrooms! A member of the PTO presented about the Missoula Children's Theater and handed out permission slips to each class. If you need a permission slip, please see below.
New garden tables!
The gorgeous garden needed a place for children to sit and enjoy the amazing space. This week Erin & Britt from our garden team set up new, comfortable, bright and colorful outdoor seating complete with umbrellas. This is made possible with PTO dollars! Thank you to all the parents who help in our fundraising efforts.

How to Find Your Child's iReady Report
iReady assessments, a diagnostic tool for the purpose of providing specific data to assist in instructional planning have been posted to ParentVUE. This tool measures student performance linked to end-of-year standards. We use these scores in conjunction with class work as well as daily, weekly, monthly and term assessments to identify students' strengths and areas for improvement. You can find iReady reports by clicking on this link: ParentVUE and then on the documents tab.
Oregon State Assessment Opt-Out Form
Each school year, Oregon students take assessments to meet federal requirements. The purpose of these assessments is to provide data that schools can use to ensure that every child is on track and achieving learning goals.
State law requires us to inform you that a form is available from the State Department of Education that allows you to opt your child out of the math and English Language Arts assessments for the current school year. Should you wish to opt out your child, fill out the form and submit it to the main office at your child’s school. Please note the submission deadlines listed on the form. Meeting the deadline will help the school with planning and preparation. If you wish your child not to participate in the science assessment for grades 5, 8, and 11, submit this request in writing to the principal of your child's school.
If you have questions or want more information about state assessments, please contact your child’s principal or teacher(s).
Click here for opt-out form for Math and English Language Arts.
OSAS Schedule and Reminders: Oregon State Assessment will take place in April and May, refer to the chart below for details. Teachers will also be sending out information in their newsletters.
Prepare your student for testing by ensuring:
They are well rested
Have healthy breakfast, lunch and snack options
CHARGED chromebook
Encouragement - we believe in them!
If a student has a smartphone or watch, these will need to be kept in backpacks during testing as access to them creates an impropriety, per state assessment regulations.

Safe Oregon
Parents-guardians who have concerns about a student’s well-being are encouraged to reach out to their principal and maintain strong lines of communication and partnership between students, families, staff, and other resources. SafeOregon is also an effective way to report a tip regarding safety threats or potential acts of violence to our students or schools. Students should also be aware that intentionally providing a false report is a serious offense. https://www.safeoregon.com/
