Please support our Junior High students tomorrow - they have a yard sale from 10-3pm. Thank you for all your donations.
Literacy week is next week (check out the flyer below) and we’ll also have an At-Home Learning day on Friday October 9th. Students should plan for about 3 hours of learning at home assigned by the teachers. The goal of this day is to help connect the learning at school with home and real life. This also provides the teachers an opportunity to analyze beginning of year assessment data and prepare for upcoming conferences.
Please consider supporting our teachers and staff during Parent Teacher Conferences by donating to the meals on the 13th and 14th.

Chipotle Spirit Night is October 7th from 4-8pm
This week, you’ll hear from Ms. Emily Squadroni, our Early Childhood Specialist and Community Coordinator. She joins us with 14 years of Montessori experience and is currently wrapping up a doctorate degree in Montessori Education. Below she provides us with an update about Normalization and some events in Early Childhood.
The first 6–8 weeks of the Montessori year are a special time of normalization. This is a period when children settle into the rhythms of the classroom, build independence, strengthen concentration, and become comfortable with school day routines and community. We’re excited to see our classroom communities settling in beautifully, and just in time for one of our favorite times of year: fall!
As we move beyond this settling-in period, we’re ready to hunker down, slow down, and dive deeply into learning about the changing season. Just as the squirrels scurry to gather food for the winter, it is natural for energy to ramp up a bit in the autumnal. Support at home can look like healthy dinners, set bedtime routines, and consistent schedules.
We’re especially excited for our first field trip to Oaklawn Park, where we’ll have the opportunity to experience fall through our own observations and discoveries. We’ll be observing leaves as they change colors and fall, watching our sunflowers begin to dry and drop their seeds, and exploring the wonderful work of harvesting. We’ll also enjoy delicious apple snacks as we learn about where our food comes from and why this time of year is so special.
As Halloween approaches, please remember to keep the tricks and treats at home. We are a candy- and sugary-snack-free school, so please do not send candy or sugary treats in lunches or snacks. Thank you for helping us keep our classroom healthy, focused, and ready for learning!
