October Parent Newsletter

The end of the first 9 weeks will be Friday, October 3rd. We will send report cards home on Wednesday, October 15th after Fall Break. Be on the lookout in your student's book bag.

Students are allowed to dress up for Halloween on Friday, October 31st. Please adhere to these rules when choosing your student's Halloween outfit:

We have a great group of custodians here at SCES. Make sure you and your students let them know how much they are appreciated on Thursday.

Please bring your Driver's License in when you are bringing a child into school late or checking him/her out early. This step has been added as a safety measure!

Attendance is crucial for all students! Over the summer, our Attendance Team met with members of the Department of Juvenile Justice, DFCS, the Sheriff's Department, and the Superior Court to develop a policy that ensures students are in school and learning everyday! Help A Child Smile will be coming to SCES on October 27th & 28th. This mobile dentistry program provides comprehensive dental services to students at school. Applications will be sent home with students. You can also sign up online at www.myschooldentist.com . Applications are due by October 16th. If you have any questions feel free to contact School Social Worker, Bianca Bright at bianca.bright@seminole.k12.ga.us .

*Please note if your student already has a regular dentist, they should KEEP going to the dentist.

All families must update their child’s information for the 2025-2026 school year. Please complete the Annual Information Update (also called Online Registration or OLR) through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Each family must complete this form by November 1, 2025. If families do not have internet access, they may visit the Board of Education office to complete their application.

Please see the attached instructions for setting up an online account. You can use this to add money to your lunch account. If you have children in the system you can link them to your account and put money on their accounts. Students can use money for purchasing extra food items. You can also share this page with your parents. They may want to create online accounts for their children.

Be ready for your student to tell you all about how they can become leaders of their own lives. Check out these 7 habits we will discuss throughout the school year at SCES. Help us to reinforce these habits at home with our students.

Our Widly Important Goals (WIG's) for the month of September were attendance and discipline. Students who met their goals will be recognized at our Monthly Student Recognition Assembly on Friday, October 3rd. Talk to your student about their WIG.

Don't forget to visit the office or your student's teacher to pay the SCS District Technology Fee. SCS provides each student access to a chromebook in each classroom. The $25 fee protects the chromebook from accidental breaks and damage that may occur throughout the year.
