Rooms Communication Tool now at EA!

Starting today, the East Aurora Schools mobile app will be the Go-To place for communication with our families. (Replacing Remind, Dojo, SeeSaw, etc.) As part of our ongoing efforts to streamline communication, this unified communication tool is now available districtwide for everyone (classes, teams, clubs, etc). We understand the importance of efficient communication with our families and students, and recognize the challenges that can arise when families and students are using multiple platforms. By consolidating our communication efforts into one centralized tool, we are simplifying the communication process for our families, students, and staff, leading to a better experience for everyone.

Here's a quick round-up of the tool for our staff and students:

• The Thrillshare Rooms tool is built into our East Aurora Schools app, and will be one stop shop for all of our families and students.
• but all info can also be accessed through a web portal (edurooms.com) too on chromebooks and laptops
• Rooms offers our staff the ability to send:
• posts/announcements to their classes/groups as a whole
• two way communications to one or more students/parents
  
• updates to Google Classroom Stream will be available to students/parents as well
  
• Rooms is updated nightly from Powerschool so no need to add or remove students/parents, it does it for you
  
• Students can see all of their classes when they log in with their google credentials
• Rooms can translate any message on all platforms
• Rooms includes an optional Behavior tool to allocate points to students for participation, good behavior, etc.
• Teachers , staff and coaches can upload, organize, and share documents through the app!

🧒Your classes all populated from your class rosters, you don't need to invite any students or parents

👪📧Parents will receive their invitations to set up their accounts this week (if they didn't already do this)

👩🏻‍💻Students don't need to be invited to Rooms, they log in with their Google accounts

📱Students can log in to the EA App on their mobile device, or at edurooms.com on a chromebook or in a browser

🏅Sports rosters are populated for each coach, but if you have changes to rosters you'll need to update them manually or email help@eak12.org and we will do it for you

🏫Clubs and Activities: send us your rosters and we'll upload them for you, or you can create your own Classes and attach your students to it. Email help@eak12.org for help

🚧PUBLISH YOUR CLASSES! Your classes will not be visible on the app or to your students/guardians until you hit the Publish button for each class.

1. Add some information in the Class Info section for each class, whether it's a syllabus or office hours or just a welcome to your class.
2. If you want to re-name your class, you would do this in the Settings tab of your class.
3. Post an Announcement welcoming your students and parents, this would also be a good way to post any expectations.
4. If you want to connect a Google Classroom, please do! (Please be very careful to connect the correct Google Classroom to the correct class - this can cause a host of problems if done incorrectly)
5. If you need to be connected to another class, the Primary teacher will need to add you by going to the Class Info section, on the right there will be Class Members, beside there will be 3 dots. Click on the dots to add co-teachers, students, and to download magic codes for guardians (if needed).

Rooms offers better parent-teacher communication. Parents can see classroom announcements and message teachers, staff and coaches in the same app where they get district and school news and updates. Teachers , staff and coaches can find all of their messages on one platform. Students can message their teacher, staff and coach directly with questions about upcoming assignments. This is a safe space for student-teacher communication that is monitored by administrators.

Students can see class announcements and upcoming assignments within a particular class. Teachers , staff and coaches can upload class content, and students and guardians can view any new updates.

The Materials feature takes away the time and stress of filing hard copy supplemental resources and curriculum notes. Teachers, staff and coaches can upload and organize their entire semester's worth of documents in one sitting. When a new semester begins, simply copy, paste and recycle your previous curriculum documents.

When a student logs into Rooms, the first page they'll see is the Classes homepage. This page gives them quick and easy access to all of their classes, and they can view notifications within each class.

Where can I download the app?
Download the Thrillshare app from the Apple App Store or the Android Google Play Store.

What’s the difference between Rooms and the Thrillshare app?

Staff members will use the Thrillshare app to publish class information, share announcements, and send messages. Rooms is built into our East Aurora Schools district app and is the app that parents/guardians will need.

If you are a teacher or a staff member AND have a student in the district, you will need both apps and will register with your personal email address for Rooms.

I have an old phone. Will the app work?
The app will run on phones with Android version 8+ or iOS version 13+.

I am having trouble logging in. What do I do?
Teachers, staff and coaches with an account will use Google SSO to sign into thrillshare.com, so a password is not required. If any error appears when you attempt to sign in, please connect with help@eak12.org to make sure your account is created appropriately.

Do I have to use the app?
Teachers, staff and coaches can view all the same information (as well as access additional settings) by signing into thrillshare.com.

I forgot my password!
Teachers, staff and coaches with an account will use Google SSO to sign into thrillshare.com, so a password is not required.

Can I use Rooms using a browser? I would rather use a computer.
Absolutely, go to id.thrillshare.com and click on Log in with Google.

What if I'm a teacher AND a parent?
As a parent, log into edurooms.com on desktop, or the district's mobile app, being sure to click the toggle for Rooms. You'll use your personal email for this login.

As a teacher, log into id.thrillshare.com using your staff email for logging in, or the Thrillshare Mobile App.

I get an error when trying to send a message. How can I fix this?
Remove the East Aurora Schools app and reinstall it, then log back in. If you're using edurooms.com, clear your browser's cache, close the browser, then open it and try again.
