Lincoln's Weekly Bulletin
10/16/20026
Happy Friday, Lincoln Panther Families!
We started the week with a little rain, but thankfully, the sunshine returned just in time for our 8th graders to enjoy an amazing Community Building Day!
It was wonderful to see our students spending time with their advisory teachers, many of whom have been with them since 6th grade. From getting their steps in on the walk to Buccaneer Park to playing on the playground, laughing with friends, and simply enjoying being kids, the day was filled with smiles, laughter, and memories that will last long after middle school. And what better way to end the day than with a delicious treat from Brrr Shaved Ice!
A huge thank you to our incredible community partners, STAAR, DEI/NCRC, ASB, our dedicated teachers, and especially Ms. Pfohl, our 8th Grade Lead, for coordinating such a meaningful experience. This is what happens when we come together to create opportunities for our students to connect, build relationships, and experience a true sense of belonging.
A Little Panther Pride Reminder
As we celebrate the positive moments happening on campus, we also want to partner with our families in reinforcing the importance of kindness, respect, and responsible decision-making.
Recently, we have noticed an increase in students visiting the office for inappropriate language, teasing, and interactions that sometimes go too far. We want to remind our Panthers that when someone says "stop," "leave me alone," or "don't bother me," we must respect those boundaries. What may begin as joking or teasing can quickly become hurtful and, when repeated, may rise to the level of bullying. That is not the Panther Way!
We are also seeing an increase in inappropriate messages written in textbooks and typed on school Chromebooks. As a reminder, our school technology systems notify us when certain concerning or inappropriate content is entered, and we follow up with students and families as needed. To support our students, we will be providing additional lessons on digital citizenship, responsible technology use, and making positive choices both online and offline.
Our 4 Ps in Action: Presence, Partnership, Purpose, and Pathway
This is where our partnership with you makes all the difference!
Presence: Being present in our students' lives, listening to them, and helping them understand how their words and actions affect others.
Partnership: Working together as families and educators to reinforce kindness, respect, and accountability.
Purpose: Teaching our Panthers that their choices matter and that every student deserves to feel safe, valued, and respected.
Pathway: Helping our students develop the character, digital citizenship skills, and positive relationships they will carry into high school and beyond.
Families, we need your help! Please take a few moments this weekend to check in with your student about how they treat others, respect personal boundaries, and use technology responsibly. These conversations at home, combined with the lessons and support we provide at school, make a tremendous difference.
Middle school is a time for learning, growing, making mistakes, and making better choices. Our goal is not just to hold students accountable but to help them learn from their experiences and become the best versions of themselves.
Thank you for your continued partnership, support, and commitment to making Lincoln a place where every Panther belongs, feels safe, and can thrive.
Together, we are building a stronger Panther community, one positive choice at a time!
Have a wonderful weekend, Lincoln Families!
Respectfully,
Dr. Myeshia Whigham

Cell Phone Policy - Off and Away All Day
Together with schools throughout Oceanside Unified School District, we continue our cell phone policy, "During the Day, Off and Away," for the 2025-2026 school year (Board Policy 5131.8). Our goal is to create a safe and focused learning environment for all students by minimizing distractions and promoting their mental well-being.
Key Points:
Cell Phone Usage: Students must turn off (ringer/tone/sounds off) and store their phones in their backpacks upon entering campus. Phones should stay off until they leave.
Exceptions: Students with specific accommodations (IEPs, 504 plans, or medical conditions) may have phone access as specified in the policy.
Communication: Office has landlines for students to contact parents when necessary and may ask permission to call you.
Academic Benefits: Reducing phone usage helps students stay focused and engaged in class.
Safety and Security: This policy helps prevent cyberbullying, ensures students focus during emergencies, and reduces the risk of theft or loss.
Support and disciplinary measures are in place for policy violations to help students adjust.
Thank you for your support as we work together to enhance our students' learning experience and well-being.
