We REACH for Excellence! We REACH for Excellence!

State Assessment Notification – Grades 3–5 State Assessment Notification – Grades 3–5

During the month of May, our 3rd–5th grade students will be participating in the Washington State Assessments. These assessments give students an opportunity to show what they have learned throughout the school year.

We encourage all students to do their very best, take their time, and stay focused during testing. Effort and perseverance are important, and we are proud of the hard work our students have shown all year long.

How Families Can Help at Home:

  • Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep
  • Provide a healthy breakfast each morning
  • Help your child arrive at school on time
  • Encourage a positive mindset and confidence
  • Remind them to take their time and read carefully
  • Avoid scheduling appointments during testing times when possible

Thank you for your partnership and continued support. Together, we can help our students feel confident and prepared to succeed.

MIR Reminder MIR Reminder

This is a friendly reminder that our school uses the MIR system, which stands for Minor Incident Report. The MIR system is a way for staff to document incidents that occur outside so we can monitor patterns of behavior and provide interventions and additional support as needed for students who may need extra assistance.

Using this system helps us create a safe, supportive, and positive environment for all students during recess and other outdoor times. It also allows us to respond proactively and work with students on problem-solving, behavior skills, and positive choices.

If your child is involved in an incident that is documented through the MIR system, you will receive a ParentSquare notice regarding the incident. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

We appreciate your continued partnership and support as we work together to help all students be successful. Thank you for supporting Nob Hill Elementary.

World Cup Attendance Challenge World Cup Attendance Challenge

As we head into the final stretch of the school year, we want to finish strong with great attendance! Every day at school matters, and being here consistently helps students stay engaged, continue learning, and end the year on a positive note.

We are also excited to announce our World Cup Attendance Challenge, which will take place in May! With the World Cup coming to the United States, students will have the chance to show their school spirit, build excitement, and compete in a fun attendance challenge as we wrap up the year.

We also want to give a big shout out to our recent winners:

🏆 Ms. Erickson’s class – March Madness Champions
🥈 Mr. Trammel’s class – 2nd Place
⭐ Ms. Davis’s class – Comeback Challenge Winner

Congratulations to these classes for their amazing effort and commitment to strong attendance!

Important: Student Laptop Expectations and Depot Policy Important: Student Laptop Expectations and Depot Policy

⚠️ Important Information
Our school has a limited number of depot (loaner) laptops—only 10 total—so they are not always available for student use. In addition, not all grade levels take devices home. Because of this, it is essential that students bring their assigned laptop to school each day, when applicable, so they are prepared for learning.

To support student success, please review our updated policy regarding depot laptops below.

📌 If a Student Forgets Their Laptop
1st time:
The student may check out a depot laptop for the day.

2nd time:
The school will contact the family. Parents/guardians will be asked to locate the laptop and bring it to school. A depot laptop will not be issued.

3rd time:
A work order will be submitted to the Technology Department, and the laptop will be considered lost.
A replacement fee will be added to the student’s account.
Families will be notified regarding next steps.

🔧 If a Laptop is Broken
If a student’s laptop is not working and a repair request (work order) has been submitted:

  • The student may check out a depot laptop
  • The depot laptop may only be used until repairs are completed

🚫 Depot Laptop Expectations
Depot laptops are not allowed to go home. They must be:

  • Checked out during the school day
  • Returned before the student leaves campus

🏫 Laptop Care & Storage
Laptops must be kept in a safe, secure location at all times. They should not be left unattended or placed outside.

🏫 Optional Classroom Storage
Parents/guardians may choose to have their student’s laptop remain at school in the classroom.

Thank you for your support in helping ensure students are prepared for learning each day. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

Reminder About Pick-Up and Parking Safety Reminder About Pick-Up and Parking Safety

Please help us keep all students safe during pick-up and drop-off. No cars should park in any areas marked in red on the map. These areas are restricted to ensure students do not cross the street without using a designated crosswalk. We want all staff, students, and families to use crosswalks to stay safe.

Additionally, the employee parking lot on 32nd Ave is not a pick-up location. This lot is reserved for staff and two of our buses, so we need to keep it clear.

Thank you for being respectful to our staff and other families during this busy time of day, for helping us keep dismissal efficient and safe for all Nob Hill students and families, and for encouraging everyone to use crosswalks!

If you have any questions, please reach out to the office.
