BACK TO SCHOOL EDITION BACK TO SCHOOL EDITION

We hope that this “Monarch Messenger” finds everyone in the MoHi community doing well and building in your excitement for the 2023-24 school year. We will be sending out this format of messaging on Friday of each week with a focus on important reminders and key upcoming dates. Hopefully it will help keep everyone in our community informed and on the same page. I will also occasionally add to the communication with longer messages and even some videos to increase the sense of feeling connected. For now I will leave it by saying how excited I am to welcome the Monarch staff back on Mon, Aug 9th for professional development; 9th grade students on Wed, Aug 16th for “Coyote Day”; and all students on Thu, Aug 17th for the 1st day of School.

BACK TO SCHOOL CHECK-IN INFORMATION
Thursday, August 10th (Juniors & Seniors) and Friday, August 11th (Freshman & Sophmores)

YES, SCHOOL MEALS ARE NOW FREE!

Yes, school meals are now free! Other important cost savings available for families who qualify and complete the Free and Reduced Lunch Application. Thanks to Colorado voters, school meals will be free for all BVSD students beginning in the 2023-24 school year.

Even though lunch is now free, it is still very important that families complete the free and reduced meal application, as it waives and reduces fees district-wide for families, can impact transportation for some families, and impacts important funding for individual schools.

It also qualifies families for a 50% reduction in Lifelong Learning tuition, and waived tuition for BVSD Online classes (excluding the $50 registration fee). Child Care families will continue to apply for financial assistance through the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP).

Visit the Free and Reduced Price Meals webpage for information on applying for free or reduced meals or contact your school directly.

Families are also encouraged to visit the BVSD Help Center August 10-12 and 14-15 for assistance with free and reduced lunch applications, and additional enrollment support. Read more at BVSD.org.

YEARBOOKS

Purchase your 2023-24 yearbook at the lowest price of the year on Revtrak or at jostensyearbooks.com. This keepsake captures all the incredible moments of the year and is a must have for every student!

  • SENIOR PHOTOS:
It is tradition for seniors to submit a portrait of themselves for the yearbook. Click here to read all the official guidelines for senior photos and view our recommended list of photographers. Photos must be submitted by Oct. 27. Click here to upload your photo. Please no horizontal photos or full body shots!
  • SENIOR BABY ADS:
Many families purchase a senior tribute ad (known as "baby ads") to recognize the achievements of their seniors in the yearbook. Purchase your baby ad at theyearbookcompany.com. Baby ads must be purchased by Oct. 27.

TRAFFIC & PARKING PASSES

If you are returning to us, you are well aware that traffic flow into Monarch in the mornings can present a challenge. Traffic challenges are particularly acute during the first several weeks of school. Please remember, ALL of Campus Drive is 20 MPH. You

can find a map of our traffic flow pattern here.

  • We also strongly recommend carpooling or having your student walk, ride their bike

(bike racks are found between MK8 and MHS), and/or utilize the available BVSD

transportation or SmartRide options to help mitigate morning congestion and overall

care for our environment. Please remember, ALL of Campus Drive is 20 MPH.

  • If you are eligible for a Monarch HS Parking Pass, please come to your designated

MHS Back to School Check-in Day, having completed this form, pay the fee, and

obtain your parking permit for the coming school year. Your continued patience,

understanding, and safe and courteous driving habits are much appreciated.

CLASS/SCHOOL FEES

Class fees are not posted until after the year begins (September) and will be paid through Infinite Campus. You can purchase the following on RevTrak: MoHi Activity Pass (which allows students to get into all regular-season games for free), yearbook, parking, and other optional items. This information can be found on Monarch’s homepage under the tab for “Parents” and then “Fees and Payments.” Here is the link for our RevTrak portal.

ANNUAL DATA UPDATE

Due to our transition to a new enrollment software, SchoolMint, this year we are not requiring that families complete their Annual Data Update (ADU) via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal at the beginning of the 2023-24 school year. We have already re-enrolled your student into the current grade at their school- no action is needed by parents.

If your student has any updated health needs or concerns, or if you need to submit an immunization record, please contact your school’s health office.

Families have the capability to change contact information or addresses in their Infinite Campus Parent Portal account at any time during the year.

BVSD HELP CENTER

The Help Center can assist families with any of the following:

  • Enrollments
  • Open enrollment applications
  • Free and reduced lunch forms
  • Infinite campus parent portal account set-up, password resets and general support
  • McKinney-Vento team members will be on hand to help facilitate families experiencing housing instability

*Please note that transportation assistance is not available at the Help Center. For assistance with transportation inquiries please contact transportation@bvsd.org or 720-561-5120.

2023-24 STUDENT SCHEDULES

Welcome to the 23-24 school year! As we begin the school year, we know you are excited to see your schedule. They will be available in Infinite Campus the afternoon of August 7th. If there are any mistakes, you must see your alpha counselor during your grade level check-in days. We will not be able to adjust schedules via email.

  • Seniors needing a course to fulfill graduation requirements

  • Students needing to drop a course that has already been taken for credit

  • Students needing to move to appropriate course level

  • Students who do not have the minimum requirement of classes

  • College admission requirements
