BHS FASHION DESIGN: Fall Newsletter
October 15, 2025
Barnstable Fashion Students are back at it!
All fashion classes are in full swing!
Fashion 2 students are stepping up their game with more involved garments that use 'gathering'.
Fashion 3 students are learning how to drape and create their own patterns and unique designs.
Fashion 4 students have finished planning their collections and have started to bring them to life.
Mark your Calendars! The Fashion Show is Friday, May 1st @ 6:30PM
Students must arrive by 4PM for a run through before doors open at 5:45PM.
Participation in the show is a course requirement, as listed in the program of studies. They do not have to model, but they need to be present at the show to help work as a crew member and keep it running smoothly. If your student is unable to participate, please contact me directly as soon as possible to discuss options. I am sending out this early information letter in hopes that scheduling conflicts can be avoided. butterfield_aimee@mybps.us
FULL DAY IN-SCHOOL REHEARSAL - TUESDAY, APRIL 28th!
Students will spend Tuesday, April 28th in the PAC rehearsing for the show. This is considered an in-school field trip and students will miss a full day of classes. They are responsible for communicating with their teachers about work they need to make up. No 8th grade students or students that need to make up the 8th grade MCAS will be allowed to participate in the rehearsal! If a student will not be at the rehearsal, they will not be able to model in the show. They can still help with other aspects of the show, but all models need to be at the rehearsal. Please email with any questions.
Parents & Guardians, please see this information page for more details about student participation.
Unique prints and patterns created by our current Fashion 3 students are available in a range of fabrics and premade items, such as sheets, drapes, napkins and more!
After the fashion show ended in May, Fashion 2 students took on an end of year textile design project. Thirty two students participated and thirty two unique designs were developed! All patterns and prints are available for purchase on a variety of fabrics and home goods at our 'BHS Fashion Design' store front at Spoonflower.com. A percentage of every purchase goes to our points bank. The points result in discounts for our future purchases of the student fabric. Keep your eyes peeled during this year's show for the garments created from the students' textiles!
Spoonflower is a print on demand service. It's much better for the environment, but it does result in higher prices. If you are interested in purchasing something, watch for their sales!

Each word will be used to inspire a garment design drawing. All drawings are due by the end of October. Check in with your students and ask them how their Inktober drawings are progressing!
