Markham Facilities Update
Dear Markham community,
We wanted to share with you a detailed timeline regarding the Markham mitigation and repair work that took place earlier this week.
Unfortunately, there has been a delay with our contractor, and we only received preliminary information yesterday. This information needs to be carefully reviewed by several of our internal teams before we can confidentially communicate what must be done to repair and reopen Markham. We understand that you are eager to receive updates and a timeline, and apologize for the delay.
I am keenly aware that this has been an incredibly challenging time for the entire Markham community. Students, staff, and families have been operating well outside their comfort zones for weeks, and delays only add to the anxiety and uncertainty inherent in a situation like this one. Remediation and reconstruction simply take time. I can assure you that we are fully committed to restoring the Markham building and will continue to update you as the work progresses.
Your input is a crucial part of this process. Please use Let’s Talk to raise questions and issues. We also invite you to check out this FAQ page, which includes answers to questions we’ve already received from the Markham and Robert Gray Middle School communities in the wake of last month’s storm.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jon Franco, Chief of Schools
