Hello Meridian Families!

We have an exciting and BUSY week ahead! We will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week with fun dress-up days and our Trunk-or-Treat! Families are welcome to join us for Trunk-or-Treat. Please review the information below, including our student costume guidelines.

I also want to encourage families to make 15–20 minutes of reading each night part of their routine. Whether you're reading together or your child is reading independently, these moments help build vocabulary, strengthen comprehension, and develop a lifelong love of reading. I know evenings can be busy, but this small investment of time can make a lasting difference in your child's learning.

Thank you for your continued partnership and all you do to support our Trailblazers! We are grateful for our wonderful Meridian community!

Sincerely,

Courtney Parker
Principal

Library with Ms. Baker

Throughout the year, students will develop their reading skills by discovering books that are just right for them. We will listen to stories, read stories, and share stories together. Students will learn to identify key book elements—title, author, illustrator, copyright, publisher, summary, preface, and genres—and explore story elements and characters. We will also study the differences between fiction and non-fiction, as well as biographies and memoirs.

Health with Mr. Gossman

So far, we have been establishing our Health classroom routines and expectations. Students are learning that being successful in Health means being present, participating, and giving their best effort. Students get to learn by participating in discussions, playing games, doing activities, watching demonstrations, and other hands-on learning experiences. At the end of the lesson, students receive a 1-5 participation and engagement rating, which gives students opportunities to think about their performance and identify ways they can grow.

Meet Ms. Mangini

My name is Brittany Mangini, I have been teaching for 9 years and I am excited to be teaching computers at Meridian Elementary School. I have a Bachelor's degree in Human Development from Washington State University. I love working with all the students and enjoy watching their progress every day.

A friendly reminder-we have a procedure for setting up a meeting or a phone call to talk with our assistant principal, principal, and counselor.

We understand that any concerns you have about your student are very important and we want to help you as soon as possible. Like most professional offices, our administrators and counselor have regularly scheduled meetings, classroom lessons, classroom observations, and school duties. We are unable to facilitate walk-ins.

To ensure we are able to help you quickly and efficiently, we have a form in the office for you to fill out for a meeting or phone call request. You can also call the office at 208-855-4335 and request that they fill out the form for you. This form will ensure that you can get your problem handled quickly and you don't spend unnecessary time waiting for at the school.

We thank you for your understanding and patience.

  • Pull forward in the drop off loop. Pull forward all the way to the sign. This allows for smooth flow of traffic.
  • Do not pass vehicles in the drop off loop. Wait to pull forward. This is for student safety. Vehicles should not be parked here. If a vehicle is parked here, please inform a staff member.

West Ada School District policy states, " Cell phones and other personal devices may not be kept on a student's person during the instructional period, which is defined as the start through end of the school day."

If you feel like your student needs to bring their phone/device to communicate with you before or after school, please make sure all devices, smart watches, etc. are turned off and kept in their backpacks during the school day. Students can turn their devices on as they are leaving for the day if they need to communicate with you.

If a student is found using their cellphone or device during the school day:

  • 1st Time: Phone is brought up to the principal's office. Principal will contact parent/guardian to discuss phone use. Student will receive cellphone/device at the end of the day.
  • 2nd Time: Phone is brought up to the principal's office. Principal will contact parent guardian to discuss phone use at school. Parent/guardian must come to school to pick up the cellphone/device.
