Principal Message
This week was another good 5 day week here at Wildwood School.
On Monday our 1-3 Basketball Club had their wind-up thank you to Miss Weninger and Mrs. Swinkels for putting it on and all the family members that came out.
Our grade 4 class took their Grandparents Program field trip to Wild Ventures Game Farm.
Classes are busy preparing for year end, including PATs in Grade 6, and year end screens in all grades. The first PAT will be the ELA 6 Written on Friday May 22.
This weekend is a long weekend with Monday being a holiday.
On Wednesday the 20th School Council is putting on a Pancake Breakfast. That night is also our annual Math night, see poster below.
Bus Registration
For all new students who enroll between March 16, 2026, and June 26, 2026, and who require bus transportation for the 26-27 school year, parents must submit a School Bus Registration on the GYPSD website (School Bus Registration tab) by June 30, 2026.
This deadline also applies to returning students who require bus transportation for the 2026-27 school year. A snapcode is not required to complete the School Bus Registration.
Community Contribution
As you all know this will be the last year of Wildwood School. As part of that I have been sharing bits of our schools history. If you have bits of history or artifacts that you would like to share please email or call Mr. Stoyles so we can share parts of the school's past as we get ready for a new future in September.
As always feel free to reach out regarding any questions or concerns by calling the school at 780-325-3858 or emailing me at alanstoy@gypsd.ca.
Sincerely,
Alan Stoyles
Principal

What a fun week!
What we got up to:
We are still working on printing our name, as we would really like to master this for Kindergarten.
We read a couple books, Trucks Roll and Wake Me In The Spring.
Worked a lot on our numbers 1-10 and reviewed them in many ways, including a number matching puzzle that we worked on as a team!
We did a really fun Bird Lesson - Watched a couple videos on birds, colored a picture of a bird, went on a nature walk with binoculars to find birds and built bird nests! On our bird nature walk we saw 2 ravens, bird nests, an old abandoned house, a wood bridge, two butterflies and we heard little birds and crickets.
Of course we had fun in Gym class, outside, with our K/1 friends!
We are still focusing a little extra on manners, following instructions, social skills and problem solving within our peers. This will also help us come to Kindergarten when we have more friends in our class.
Our littles have mastered putting their belongings away and getting ready for the class in the morning, all on their own! They have also mastered packing up and getting ready to go home at the end of the day! :)

Please Note: With warmer weather and spending more time outside, please send to school appropriate weather wear. Example: Sun Screen, Sun Hat and Water Bottles! Also having an extra change of clothes might be ideal, in case they get wet or muddy.
Kindergarten Registration is Open at Grand Trunk School. Visit their website for more information and registration.

Wildwood School: Legacy Hoodies
This year all students at Wildwood School received a hoodie from School Council. The logo represents the history of Wildwood School; from our past as the Wasps to our time as the Wolves. If members of the community are interested in ordering one for themselves that can be done through our office.
Would you like to volunteer at Wildwood School?
Below you can find the volunteer package for Wildwood School. You can also drop by the school for a paper package and we can help with any questions you might have.
