Bullitt County Schools has lost several young students this school year. The collection of plastic lids to create a buddy bench at each of these schools has been extended to include LJES in honor of Raegan Maraman.

Plastic lids can be dropped off at multiple locations throughout the county including the Shepherdsville Fire House and the BCPS transportation department . Items can also be dropped off here at LJES where they will be collected and picked up. It takes approximately 225-250 pounds of plastic lids to create one bench.

See the attached graphic for the list of acceptable lids and caps. All lids and caps must be clean when donated.

• Check out what our fifth grade teacher, Ms. Bolyard and Ms. Johnson have created to highlight the Graduate Profile competencies in their classroom! The student pictures will change regularly as students and their strengths are highlighted for all to see. Great job fifth graders!

Join us on Thursday March 2nd from 5:30-7pm for a night of literacy activities that will empower parents to help their child at home. We are excitedly planning this evening to make it meaningful and provide our families with strategies they can use as we continue to focus on strengthening literacy.

Stations will include:

• Sight word Bingo
• Phoneme Segmentation
• Explore and learn about the Fundations program our K-2 students use daily
• Structured Literacy Syllable Division for decoding readers
• Choosing a right fit book; fluency; DEAR
• Learn how to give a book talk and about online resources available to LJ students
• Vocabulary building activities
• Social Emotional Learning activities
• Book Fair
