Dear Granby School Families,
Happy Spring! What a beautiful, sunny, and warm day! I am soaking in the sunshine while we can. It sounds like storms might be heading in later today.
We were very busy last week with lots of activities. Many of our fourth graders participated in a play called Snow White and Rose Red and had 3 performances for different grade levels. They did a wonderful job! Thank you to Mrs. Mayberry for providing them with this unique opportunity to experience a theater performance!
Thank you to our wonderful PTA, the Gator Game Night Committee, and all of the volunteers who made Friday night's event so special! Having such a huge event with so many students and families is a HUGE undertaking and it certainly couldn't have happened without all of you!!
We are happy to recognize our February Gators of the Month. The following students did a wonderful job of demonstrating the characteristics of our Portrait of a Learner... Thinkers! Leaders! And Friends!

When we return from spring vacation, we'll be moving into state testing season. I've included information below with the testing schedule for our Granby 3rd through 5th gators who will be taking these assessments. It is helpful if you can avoid appointments for your child on their testing dates so they are not required to test on an alternate date.
LAST CALL FOR STUDENT PLACEMENT SURVEYS! If you would like to fill out this optional student placement survey, please do so and return it to me at pschlaegel@wscloud.org by Wednesday, March 25.

Italian Pasta Lunch Day - Coming on Friday!!
Our 4th graders have been busy growing herbs in the hydroponic tower and have now expanded to aquaponics, aeroponics, and more!! On Friday, Chef Sam is going to build a menu around similar herbs into an Italian feast for our gators. Chef Sam will have beef or cheese lasagna with herbs, salad, breadsticks with Italian herbs, Italian green bean salad, and strawberries. We are looking forward to enjoying this cultural lunch with our gators. We are encouraging our gators to wear "Italian" gear (a soccer jersey? or an Olympic shirt?) or Italy's colors of red, white, and green. Should be a fun day!

Worthington City Schools Portrait of a Learner Survey
Dear Families,
Following our successful fall launch, Worthington City Schools is preparing for our second administration of the Portrait of a Learner Survey, March 16th-27th. This tool allows us to move beyond traditional academics to measure the "durable skills" our community values most, the mindsets and habits that will serve our students throughout their time in Worthington and beyond.
The fall results provided us with a baseline; this spring window is about reflection and growth. It allows us to see how the strategies we’ve used this year are supporting our students.
The Portrait of a Learner survey continues to focus on:
Measuring Progress: Comparing spring results to fall data to see how students are growing in the skills our community prioritizes.
Refining Our Approach: Using student feedback to adjust how we support "Durable Skills" and Executive Function (such as task initiation, emotional control, and organization).
Supporting the Whole Child: Ensuring our daily classroom focus remains aligned with the mindset and habits students need for success in Worthington and beyond.
The survey remains age-appropriate, tiered by grade level, and includes a preparatory lesson:
Grades 3–5: 15 questions
Grades 6–8: 20 questions
Grades 9–12: 25 questions
By checking in a second time, we can celebrate their progress and fine-tune our efforts where they are needed most.
If you have any questions or would like to opt your student out of this spring window, please contact us at 614-450-[Insert School Number].
Thank you for your continued partnership in helping us grow alongside our students.
Respectfully,
Patti Schlaegel
