MLC Through The Month
February MLC Recap
February at Big Mystic was packed with fun, excitement, The kids enjoyed some amazing field trips, including Golden Gathering, where they created arts and crafts with seniors and shared lots of laughs, a high-energy day at Sky Zone where both kids and staff had a blast learning cool tricks, and an inspiring visit to the Museum of Fine Arts to explore paintings and creativity. Back on site, favorites like Obstacle Course Makers Club let kids design their own “obby” games, while Pixel Me Club had everyone making awesome perler bead versions of themselves—perler beads were definitely a hit this month! Along with all the fun, the kids also spent time learning about Black History Month and why February is a time to honor and celebrate Black history and achievements. It was truly a month full of laughter, creativity, and meaningful experiences!

MELC Through The Month
February MELC Recap
What a cold wintery month February was, we were so excited to have not one but 4 snow days. It was a lot to shovel but fun to play in. Also we had so much fun during Feb break this year getting to see beautiful art at the MFA and watching the movie Soul at the Armory which is a first time for us. Though we have been out of school a lot, we still have been getting our education on reading loads of books and trying out harder math. We even had a club to make us typing experts. A lot of our choices this month leaned into science with Charlene’s crystal growing choice and Aniana teaching about chemistry to the little ones. We are so excited to see what March holds for us.
MELC KID AND STAFF HIGHLIGHTS
Kid- M
M has been such a kind, fun and joyous student to be around. Though she isn't here everyday, she makes her presents known and is always smiling. M makes sure that her friends are all happy and having fun coloring which is her favorite thing to do. She also works really hard during educational time and has been getting better at reading. We are so happy to have M here and can’t wait to see her growth.
Staff- Darien
Darien has been our site coordinator for the past 3 years, but today we have to say goodbye. He started as a kid at the MLC back in 2009 and worked his way through leader- in training to junior staff to senior staff and now site coordinator. Darien has always had a great relationship with the children and staff. We are so happy for his growth and can not wait to see what he does next!

Fruit of the Month: Pineapples
Pineapples are the perfect pick for March, bringing a taste of sunshine as we head into spring. Bursting with vitamin C, antioxidants, and bromelain, they help support immunity and digestion while adding a naturally sweet, tropical twist to meals and snacks. Whether enjoyed fresh, blended into smoothies, grilled for a warm treat, mixed into fruit salads, or added to yogurt and desserts, pineapple adds bright flavor and refreshing sweetness to every bite vibrant and full of tropical goodness, pineapples make March feel fresh, energizing, and delicious! 🍍
