It's A Great Day to Be A Bulldog! Bulldogs Don't Quit!
Principal's Note
Week of October 26 - 30, 2026
Dear MES Families,
We have another exciting week ahead at Marysville Elementary! As we head into the final week of October, we look forward to celebrating Red Ribbon Week, enjoying our Halloween parties, and continuing to make great memories together. Here are a few important updates for the week!
Red Ribbon Week
This week, we celebrate Red Ribbon Week! Mrs. Tjaden and our Bulldog Council have done a fantastic job organizing activities for our students in collaboration with the Marysville Police Department. We are especially grateful to our Marysville Police Department for helping sponsor a Red Ribbon Week T-shirt for ALL MES students and staff! Their continued support, generosity, and kindness toward our students mean so much to our school community. Thank you for helping us make this week special while reinforcing the importance of making healthy, positive choices!
Fourth Grade Field Trip – Tuesday, October 27
Our fourth-grade students will be heading out for their field trip on Tuesday, October 27. They will leave MES at approximately 8:45 AM. We hope they have a wonderful experience learning and making memories together!
Halloween Parties – Friday, October 30
We are looking forward to celebrating Halloween with our students on Friday! While we love seeing all the ghouls, ghosts, and goblins, we ask that students wear Halloween-themed shirts rather than costumes to school on Friday.
We are truly blessed to live in such a wonderful community where our students have opportunities to shine and show off their creative and fun costumes outside of the school day!
Most classroom Halloween parties will begin at 2:00 PM. If a classroom has a different start time, teachers will have communicated that information directly with families in their grade level.
No School – Monday, November 2
A quick reminder that there will be no school on Monday, November 2nd, as our teachers and staff will be participating in professional development. This time allows our educators to continue growing their skills and strengthening instruction to better serve our students.
As always, I am so grateful for our MES families and the opportunity to serve your children each day. Thank you for being such an important part of our school community. We are truly blessed to have your children at MES, and we look forward to another great week of learning & growing!
Here's to a great week!

26-27 MARYSVILLE ELEMENTARY STUDENT/PARENT HANDBOOK
26-27 MES Parent Handbook
Our Parent Handbook is an important resource that outlines the expectations, policies, and procedures for the school year. It includes information about academics, attendance, behavior expectations, communication, and ways families can stay engaged in their child’s learning.
We ask that families review the handbook prior to the first day of school so that everyone is familiar with our school guidelines. Please continue to reference it throughout the year whenever questions arise. Working together, we can ensure a safe, supportive, and successful school experience for every child.

MES Music Highlight
🎵 Making Music Move: Creative Rhythm with Mrs. Olmsted!
Music at Marysville Elementary School is so much more than learning notes on a page—it is a hands-on, full-body experience! A huge thank you goes to Mrs. Olmsted for the incredible passion and creative energy she brings to our music program. Beyond putting on truly fantastic student performances throughout the year, Mrs. Olmsted seamlessly weaves interactive, tactile activities into every lesson. Whether students are weaving spider webs out of string, wearing creative masks, or playing vibrant boomwhackers, music and movement always go hand in hand in her classroom. For elementary-aged children, this multi-sensory approach is invaluable. Experiencing rhythm and sound physically helps young learners build strong neurological connections, grasp complex timing and pattern concepts, and develop fine and gross motor skills. By turning abstract musical ideas into tangible, playful experiences, Mrs. Olmsted ensures that every student builds confidence, sparks imagination, and develops a lifelong love for the arts.
☀️ Learning Beyond the Four Walls in Miss Young’s Class! 🍂
With the wonderful weather we’ve been enjoying, Miss Young’s class took full advantage of the sunshine by taking their learning outdoors! It was fantastic to see the students enjoying the fresh air while staying engaged in their lessons. Outdoor learning gives our students a wonderful chance to stretch their legs, boost their creativity, and connect with nature, making their day both productive and refreshing. Be sure to check out the photos below to see our young scholars soaking up the sun and learning in action!

CharacterStrong – ❤️ Bullying Prevention: Choose Kindness!
During Red Ribbon Week, we are reminded that making healthy, positive choices includes how we treat others. At MES, we use CharacterStrong to help students build empathy, show respect, and develop positive relationships.
It is important for students to understand the difference between being mean and bullying. Being mean may involve an unkind word or action that hurts someone’s feelings. Bullying involves unwanted, aggressive behavior that includes a real or perceived power imbalance and is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. While these behaviors are different, neither is ever okay. Every student deserves to feel safe, respected, and included.
We encourage students to be upstanders by including others, speaking up when someone is being hurt, and seeking help from a trusted adult. Families can support these lessons by talking with children about kindness, empathy, and treating others with dignity. Together, we can build a school community where every student feels safe, valued, and connected!
