Magnus Information Magnus Information

PALCS will be initiating a new electronic Health Services software program called Magnus. With Magnus, parents will have the ability to directly upload all state required medical documentation into their student’s account. Since this is a web-based system, you will have continuous access to your child’s health record as well as the ability to make updates when needed. On August 16, 2021. You will receive a welcome letter from Magnus Health with the subject line: “Your requested Magnus Health Account Information.”

Here are some friendly steps for setting up Magnus::

  1. You will receive a user name but will have to create a password.
  2. You have 7 days to create a password. If this step is not completed, a New Welcome letter will be sent. The original welcome email will not work after 7 days of original invite.
  3. When you have created a password, it will then ask you to verify your phone number and email address. This information is automatically uploaded from the information you provided in your PALCS database and can’t be changed. They must be consistent and match.
  4. After verification, PLEASE watch the 2min 26 second video presentation. It is extremely helpful.
  5. After the video, you are ready to answer the questions required to form your child/children’s electronic medical record. It will take about 20 min to complete. If you want to complete it at your own pace, that is ok however we would prefer if you complete it before school starts.
  6. If you have questions or have problems when completing your child’s account, Magnus has a HELP button on your account. Magnus is there to help you with any questions. If you need further assistance, PALCS nurses are available.
  7. A bonus addition to Magnus is the availability of an App to be downloaded on your phone. This makes it easy the next time you see your healthcare provider with your child. You can take a photo of your child’s physical, dental, immunization record and any other pertinent medical paperwork. All photos can be uploaded directly into your Magnus account.
  8. When you have your username and password created you can access Magnus from our PALCS lobby under Health Services or from the link provided https://secure.magnushealthportal.com/
  9. We ask that you enter the health information required within your Magnus Health SMR account for each child attending PALCS no later than August 27, 2021.
  10. Grades K, 6 and 11th will be asked to submit a Physical Report.
  11. Grades K, 3 and 7 will be asked to submit a dental form
  12. Grades 1-5 and 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 will be asked to have an Annual Screening form completed. If you have a Physical Report for these grade levels, you may upload a Physical where the Annual form is requested.
  13. There will be an option for “Other Forms” any pertinent medical information you would like your Nurse to be aware of can be uploaded here

First Aid and Illness

Children should not attend school or field trips when they are ill, or when they are not well enough to participate. A child should not have a fever and/or vomiting, diarrhea, or rash for at least 24 hours prior to returning to school to prevent the spread of infection. When a child exhibits any of the following symptoms, he/she should be kept at home.

Some general guidelines are:

  • Fevers: A child running a fever of 99.5 degrees or higher should stay home.
  • The rule of thumb is: “Fever free for 24 hours without medications” before returning to school.
  • Severe or Persistent Coughing
  • Congestion or Very Runny Nose
  • Unexplained Rashes
  • Untreated Head Lice
