2024 Ohio School Report Cards Released
2024 Ohio School Report Cards Released
Nearly 90 percent of school districts meet performance expectations on 2024 School Report Cards
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Director Stephen D. Dackin last week announced the release of the 2024 Ohio School Report Cards and Summary of Ohio School Report Cards. The report cards showcase the achievements of districts and schools, highlighting their efforts to prepare students for the future.
Districts and schools receive overall ratings of 1-5 stars in half-star increments. This year, nearly 90% of districts earned overall ratings of three stars or higher, meaning they met state expectations for performance. Overall graduation rates are the highest they have been in more than a decade, with 87.9% of the 2023 student cohort graduating within four years and 89.1% of the 2022 student cohort graduating within five years.
Extended Public Comment Period for Special Education Methodology Updates and Target Setting
The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce has opened an additional public comment period for special education methodology and target setting. A focused stakeholder group met three times to review indicator fact sheets and public comment. This stakeholder group developed the recommendations summarized here.
While the Department is specifically seeking feedback on the items in the table above, stakeholders are encouraged to provide feedback on any part of the methodology. The Department will be holding open office hours on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 11:00am to noon to answer questions about the methodology and target setting process. Click this link to join the meeting on that date.
Complete this form by Friday, Oct. 4, to provide your feedback.
Stakeholders are encouraged to share this opportunity with their constituents to gather as much input as possible. Direct questions to specialedtargets@education.ohio.gov.
See Ohio’s Special Education Methodology Updates and Target Setting webpage for resources, including indicator fact books and video overviews, a summary of the stakeholder feedback received thus far, a summary of the stakeholder process and recommendations, frequently asked questions, and the feedback form.
