Warrior Families,

As we approach the final week of the school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on what a wonderful school year it has been. From the excitement of the first day of school to the accomplishments and growth we've witnessed throughout the year, June is a time to celebrate and look ahead.

To our dedicated teachers and staff, thank you for your hard work, creativity, and care. To our parents and guardians, thank you for your continued partnership. And to our students—you’ve made us proud every step of the way.

Summer is just around the corner, and with it, opportunities to stay engaged in learning through having your child attend summer school enrichment here at the school, reading, camps, and family activities. If you have not already done so, please sign up your child for summer school enrichment through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If you have any questions please contact the school at 715-588-3838.

Friendly Reminders:

  • Please make sure your child arrives to school on time each day. Student drop off and breakfast begins at 7:40 AM. Students need to be in their classrooms no later than 8:10 am.
  • Don’t forget to dress your student appropriately for the weather – layers are always a good idea in spring.
  • If your child is absent, please contact the school explaining the reason for their absence. Regular attendance is critical to student success. We understand that illness and family emergencies happen, but we ask that families make every effort to schedule appointments and vacations outside of school hours. Consistent attendance is one of the keys to academic success.

Wishing you all a joyful and safe summer break. We look forward to seeing some of you during summer school and in August for another amazing school year!

With gratitude,

Principal Fieck

🌱 Say Hello to Pumpkin Jack! 🌱

🎃Springtime/Almost Summer-And ...Pumpkin Jack...

Yes, it's almost SUMMER, so why now a story about a pumpkin? Well...this is not just any old ordinary story about fall, Halloween & pumpkins...but a story of the pumpkin cycle/the pumpkin circle, and how it all began in our very own LDF School Library!

As the days grow longer and the breeze turns soft with the scent of blooming flowers, something special is happening in the heart of the LDF school library. Meet Pumpkin Jack—a big, bright green plant (pictured below) that holds a promise of things to come this fall! Pumpkin Jack isn’t just any old pumpkin. He was lovingly grown from real seeds, right here in the school library-With the careful hands of curious students and the gentle encouragement of the librarian, Ms. Krissy Toijala, Pumpkin Jack sprouted and stretched toward the light, a symbol of patience, care, and new beginnings.

All spring, he’s been soaking up stories and sunshine in his cozy library corner, listening to the laughter of readers and the turning of pages. He’s become quite the fixture—some say he even perks up a little when someone reads aloud nearby!

But Jack’s journey is just beginning. When summer arrives, he’ll be carefully planted outside in the school garden, where he can feel the warm sun on his leaves and the cool soil around his roots. And, if all goes well, blossoms will bloom (actually, they have already started!) —and by fall, we might just see some plump orange pumpkins on the table growing right where Jack once sat.

So if you’re passing through the library, don’t forget to say hello to Pumpkin Jack. He’s green, growing, and grateful for every visitor. After all, it’s the love and kindness from the school community that helped him grow. Here’s to spring, to not-so-ordinary stories, and new beginnings—just like Pumpkin Jack.

Have a GREAT Summer!

Attention Parents:

If you have not already done so, please bring in your child's birth certificate. Tiffany Bauman/LDF Registrar needs a copy of every child's birth certificate in the school office. It is important to know that not having the birth certificate in your child's file, could affect their registration to school in the fall and also may create extra confusion when getting school clothes via the Economic Support Program. Any questions, please direct them to the school 715.588.3838 ext. 197.

Thank you.

Students can get their teeth cleaned at school during the day by the mobile Bridging Brighter Smiles Program. Families can sign up their children at NO COST FOR SERVICES to have their teeth cleaned, dental sealants, fluoride varnish, and several more preventative dental services. The program will run again on Monday, June 2nd at LDF School. Please see the enrollment form. Bridgingbrightersmiles.org/forms Still have questions, please call 262.896.9891.

Helping Your Child Receive the Full Benefit of Their Education-Facts from the Attendance Office

An absence is any time your child misses any portion of the school day after the start of school (8:10 AM) and before the scheduled end of school (3:25 PM).

Absences are further broken down as excused and unexcused.

All excused absences require communication with school. Any absence lacking communication remains unexcused until such time as information is provided to the school. For an absence to be excused, we need communication from you (email, phone call, written note). It is never too late to communicate for a past absence. Remember, good attendance is more than simply complying with laws; rather, it is truly a matter of providing our children with more and better opportunities to learn!

7 Grandfather Teachings --

The traditional concepts of respect and sharing that form the foundation of the Native American way of life are built around the seven natural laws, or sacred teachings. Each teaching honors one of the basic virtues intrinsic to a full and healthy life.

Each law is embodied by an animal to underscore the point that all actions and decisions made by man are manifest on a physical plain. The animal world taught man how to live close to the earth, and the connection that has been established between the animal world and that of man has instilled a respect for all life in those who follow the traditional way.

  • The Eagle teaches us LOVE. Love must be unconditional.
  • The Buffalo teaches us RESPECT. Respect is the condition of being honored.
  • The Bear teaches us COURAGE. Courage is the ability to face danger, fear, or changes with confidence and bravery.
  • The Butterfly teaches us HONESTY.
  • The Beaver teaches us WISDOM. Wisdom is the ability to make decisions based on personal knowledge and experience.
  • The Wolf teaches us HUMILITY. Humility is being humble and not arrogant.
  • The Turtle teaches us TRUTH. Truth is to know and understand all the seven teachings have given to us by the Creator and to remain faithful to them.
