This week, we kicked off our annual program that highlights National Reading Month in March. The program is designed to help you, your family and friends increase the amount of reading materials at home. In addition, each purchase made through the program provides the school with additional funding!

It's easy! Students register, create an avatar, and send 10 emails to family & friends! That's it! Every student that participates will receive a prize!

This weekend is the last chance to register and send emails, and the last prizes will be distributed on Monday - so don't wait! *Flyer below with details.

THANK YOU!!!

KINDERGARTEN KINDERGARTEN

Mrs. Phelan

These Kindergarten students were teaching BeeBots to spell sight words by coding them to travel to each letter. First they planned their path using forward, backward, turn right, and turn left cards. Then they programmed the robots. Then they debugged the code to fix any errors in the program. Through this process the students learn coding skills, but they also learn planning skills and perseverance!

Mrs. Neff

Dr. Potter came to Mrs. Neff's class to teach us more social emotional learning skills.

We learned to be patient and that we have a connection with each other and that we care.

Be an inventor!

In order to celebrate Black History Month, the students in Mrs. Banks' class learned about three different inventions from African Americans. The children had to come up with an invention on how to wash a giraffe. The giraffe is too tall to reach so they needed to think of creative ways to clean the giraffe.

FIRST GRADE FIRST GRADE

Mrs. Wendling

First Graders in Mrs. Wendling’s Class practiced math facts and cooperation by playing math games.
They also created collections of 100 items and then checked a friend's collection. They found it was easiest to count by groups of 10!

Mrs. Reichert

Students worked diligently to revise their personal narratives this week.

SECOND GRADE SECOND GRADE

What's in a friend?

After reading Enemy Pie by Derek Munson, we learned a valuable lesson that we should give others a chance. You never know who could end up being your best friend! We then worked in pairs to weave a delicious pie. We defined what friendship is, what friendship has, and what friendship needs.

Miss Allison

Meet Miss Allison! The students all know her already since she has been a recess aide for the last year and a half at Tawanka. More recently she has been filling in as a long term substitute office clerk. You will hear her cheerful voice on the phone and see her smiling face in the office. We are happy to have her help!

COMING SOON! YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS: COMING SOON! YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS:

Registration for the 2022-2023 school year is now open. Families are encouraged to register their new students as early as possible to ensure that they are able to attend their neighborhood school.
