A MESSAGE FROM MR. STROUP

Dear Murray Avenue Families,

As the sun sets on another incredible school year, I want to take a moment to look back and celebrate the immense growth, laughter, and learning that filled our hallways. This year has been nothing short of wonderful, and it is all thanks to our dedicated staff, supportive families, and, of course, our phenomenal students.

Every single grade has brought something special to our community this year:

  • Our Fourth Graders stepped up to the plate with incredible curiosity and energy. They embraced new responsibilities, dived deep into challenging projects, and showed us what it means to be empathetic leaders-in-training.

  • Our Fifth Graders truly found their stride this year. They demonstrated remarkable academic growth, took on bigger leadership roles within the school, and showed a wonderful sense of collaboration and creativity in everything they did.

  • Our Moving-On Sixth Graders have officially reached the end of their Murray Avenue chapter. Watching them grow into the resilient, kind, and capable young people they are today has been an absolute privilege.

To our 6th Graders: As you pack up your desks and look ahead to Lower Moreland Middle School, know that you are ready. You leave Murray Avenue fully prepared to tackle new challenges, embrace fresh experiences, and make your mark on the world. We are so incredibly proud of you!

Thank you all for a beautiful school year. Have a safe, happy, and relaxing summer break!

With Murray Avenue Pride,

Mr. Erin Stroup

We recognize that many students bring tech devices to school from home for multiple valid purposes. Please remind your students, however, that they are not to use phones or smart devices during the school day. All devices are required to be off and in their lockers. Thank you for your assistance.

Important Health Updates from Mrs. Seefried Important Health Updates from Mrs. Seefried

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Just as a reminder, please take a moment to review the district’s policies and procedures regarding your child’s health.

If your child requires medication to be given during the school day, it is the policy of the LMTSD that:

-All medications to be administered must be brought to school by the parent/ guardian.

-All medications to be administered must be in the original container and prescription medication must be in the container with the prescription label attached, indicating dosage and dispensing information (https://www.boarddocs.com)

If your child has a fever of 100.4 or above, has vomited or has diarrhea he/she should not come to school. Your child may return to school when he/she has been fever free for 24 hours without medication, or has not vomited or had diarrhea for 24 hours.

Please refer to the Student Handbook for information regarding reporting student illness and documentation from a physician for absences.

If your child requires to stay in for recess for a medical reason, a doctor’s note must be provided. The note should include the reason and the specific dates he/she is required to not participate in recess.

If possible, please provide an extra set of clothing to keep in your child’s backpack/locker for emergencies.

Please remember to check your child’s head periodically for lice. Screening by parents on a regular basis allows for early detection.

If your child is in 6th Grade, and you have not provided a completed Physical Form, please do so as soon as possible.

Thank you for your help and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sharon Seefried RN, CSN sseefried@lmtsd.org

Talking Points

This is a reminder that Lower Moreland will utilize the Talking Points platform again this year. This will allow families to communicate with the district using whichever language they are the most comfortable with! You will receive communications via text message, however the experience is even better if you use the app, available for all platforms!

Cafeteria Reminder

Lunch menus are posted on a new interactive website, Nutrislice. Our innovative and interactive site and mobile app make our school menus more convenient and informative than ever before! Download the Nutrislice App from the App Store or get it on Google Play and search Lower Moreland.

Friendly reminder that the universal free lunch has ended, however free breakfast will be continuing! Students that would like a free breakfast in the morning will walk straight to the cafeteria upon arrival. Students can eat breakfast in the cafeteria and granola bars, muffins, and cereal bars are also available if your student would like to save their breakfast for snack time.

Additionally, for the 2024-2025 school year, all students who are designated to receive “reduced” meals, will also be automatically qualified for free meals. There will be no reduced prices charged for the 2024-2025 school year.

The District is strongly encouraging families to fill out the Free and Reduced Applications if you believe your family will qualify. Information on income qualifications and paper applications can be found at : https://www.lmtsd.org/services/food-services-cafeteria-information

Field Trip Assistance

As field trips are scheduled, if you are unable to afford field trips, please reach out to your student's counselor, as assistance may be available.

HVL Events!

As the school year winds down, all sorts of interesting summertime events over at Huntingdon Valley Library crank up!

Th HVL Summer Learning Program runs June 20-August 2. Everyone can participate! From emerging preschool readers, developing elementary age readers, teens, adults and established curious readers, there are challenges for every age! Follow the link for more information on the full slate of summer events. Hope to see you at the Kick-Off Party on Saturday, June 20!

While you’re over at Huntingdon Valley Library, consider getting a public library card for your child… or yourself! It’s easy to do, and opens a world of information & entertainment that’s absolutely free. Kids under the age of 18 need a parent with them to sign up. With a library card, you have access to over two MILLION (yes, you read that right) books and other resources through the network of public libraries in Montgomery County. It’s really the best.

Lastly, a big THANK YOU to all of you who’ve helped your kids return their Murray Avenue library books! All books are due back to the library as soon as possible, so we can inventory and prepare the collection to be ready for the fall. I’m grateful for the help.

Have a superlative summer!

Mr. Kelly
