A Message from Principal Woofter
What an amazing month we have had!
The Archer Glen Carnival was a huge success! There are countless hours of planning and preparation that create an event of this magnitude. It was worth every second to hear the laughter and see the smiles of our families in attendance. A huge thank you to everyone who helped plan, solicit donations, run games and concessions, set up and tear down, sell tickets, etc. It truly takes a village and our village came out to support this incredible event!
We also ended April with our first grade concert last night! This was the first performance experience for our first grade students and they were amazing! They danced, sang, and played instruments all wearing their "extra fancy" clothes. Thanks to Mrs. Brannan, Mrs. Beymer, and Mrs. Center for helping the students to practice their songs and movement, while also calming nerves for the big show!
It seems fitting that we have been celebrating our volunteers this week. Our students and staff truly appreciate all the time that our volunteers spend on campus. Their presence and willingness to help out wherever needed provides a wonderful support structure for our Archer Glen students and adds to the welcoming school climate we strive to achieve. Thank you so much to all our volunteers - not just during this week of celebration - but all year long!!
A few final reminders, we do have Conferences next Thursday and Friday so there will be no school for students. Your student's teacher sent out their Conference Sign-Up information last Friday, so make sure you have secured your spot. We will also have our Book Fair open those days and the week after for browsing and shopping. If you are interested in providing input for your child's placement next year, there is a link further down for that form.
Happy May!
Kindly,
Sarah

Student Placement Input for 2025-2026 School Year
It is the time of year where we reach out for parent input regarding student placement for the 25-26 school year. Each spring, placement teams begin the process of developing the next year's class rosters. Placement teams take great care to consider a number of factors that contribute to the success of each child, including social, emotional, and academic factors. Teams also consider factors that lead to balanced classrooms that benefit all students, such as balancing class size, academic strengths and goals, behavioral and work habits. Placement teams include your child's teacher, other grade level teachers, specialists, counselor, principal, and other staff knowledgeable of your child and your child's grade level peers.
Input might include academic, social, and emotional strengths and needs, aspects of the learning environment that benefit your child, and goals you would like to see your child work towards next year. If you would like to provide input to the placement team, please fill out this form by May 12th. Requests for specific teachers are not considered as a part of the placement process.

Oregon’s SEED Survey Coming Soon
Starting in May, Sherwood schools will administer the Student Educational Equity Development (SEED) Survey to students in grades 3-11, as required by Oregon law. This survey, from the Oregon Department of Education (ODE), gathers student feedback on their educational experiences to help improve support for schools and students statewide. The survey covers topics like academic opportunities, access to resources, and connection to school. It takes 10-20 minutes to complete.
Parents/guardians can decline their student’s participation. Students can also decline to participate by selecting the “I will not take this survey” option at the beginning of the survey, or they can skip any or all individual survey questions. For more information, including the survey in its entirety, please visit the ODE’s SEED Survey website. To access the opt-out form, please see the links below.
